First up is this great booklet called Hip Hop Street Curriculum

This will be great for my Arts class teaching my son as I think I am going to start dedicating it to and putting more focus on hip hop. We have already dissected Jay Electronica and Chuck D verses in that class and this booklet I had skimmed through is a great way to get our youth (hip hop nation) into education as it appeals to what they like. I am obviously going to replace many of the artists sections cover with those who are more important when it comes to hip hop culture but this book has really helped me to refine my curriculum I have spoken with some about. Some topics covered are the n word, the b word, pimping, civil rights vs. hip hop, crack, drug deaths, liquor, Willie Lynch Letter, Why We Hate Each Other, Tookie Williams, Gangs and Safety, Hip Hop Summit Action Network,, writing campaign, hip hop math, prison/jail/probation, racial profiling, dating, sexuality, stds, hiv-aids, health, black economics, wealth, the economics of education, blue collar hourly wages, strategies to avoid being unemployed, military, goals and choices, time management, SCHOOL CULTURE VS BLACK CULTURE, peer pressure, female rites of passage, boyhood to manhood, FATHERHOOD, physical/mental/spiritual, playing the race card, African vs Negro History, Black History Questions and Facts, Malcolm X, youth in the movement, From a Chicken to an Eagle (look this story up if you are not familiar yall, great night time story for the babies), attitude, values, sat scores, Test-taking techniques, snitching, sagging, freaking, Jena 6 (you know all that ish you can find in True Skool).................all in 140 pages. It sounds better than what our youth are learning in school because it is, props to Jawanza Kunjufu and africanamericanimages.com
