Another incredible week.

My boss was out on maternity leave & I did the worst job in his absence and to make matters worse, the morning after we talked about the fact that I haven't worked on the PHP script to monitor view counts, I set up in the wrong room, almost missing the speaker's presentation.

I had already been feeling horrible that morning, coming to the realization that I may wind up divorced from my queen. I decided I would park & ride the bus in. I did make it to my stop, but left in my haste & turned on the street as the bus pulled into the stop. I ran ahead and tried to park near the next stop, but didn't find a spot in time and missed another opportunity.

The first meeting went OK, but my performance bit.

The presenter showed up with her slides at the meeting and I decided just to screen share. If I had the slides before hand, like they're supposed to, wouldn't have had the issue.

Now get this, the presenter was an Ethiopian sister who is getting a master's in public health. Her research was about how Western medicine is adopted (or not) by her African homeland.

Very interesting topic that we will explore when we have a conversation.

We chatted a bit afterwards and it turns out she is the daughter of the brother who presented to the organization I produce the podcast of.

I also showed her the book I got on interlibrary loan.
"State origin: The evidence of the laboratory birth of aids" authored by Dr. Boyd Graves.

She had heard of Dr. Graves, but had never seen the book. Will have that as a topic of discussion.

Today was the 2nd thursday & the new principal of Rainier Beach high school came to present for the breakfast group. I will have the podcast up after I get a copy of his slides. He talked about himself being born in California & then applied to Morehouse then to TXA&M for his mater's in education.

Tonight I'm going to city business casual. I really need to get some clients.

This weekend starts the annual Langston black film festival. Opening night has the last fall. http://www.langstonarts.org/?p=2791

I made the connection with Dr. Mitchell & Karen. We'll see what happens.

Also Smiley & West are coming to Seattle. Unfortunately it's on Tuesday & the only I'd be able to go is if I got an email or phone call and was asked. (hint hint)
