I had read your comments concerning the issue over the EEOC, as well as your past struggles. I wanted to share this Youtube link with you http://youtu.be/AwdlpdCcXZo in hopes that it might inspire your viewpoint on the issues that are the bottom line for us all. I too have endured many similar struggles in which disparity can surface within our own being. I watched that particular interview on Democracy Now and had such a deep appreciation for Amy Goodman. First, opening the dialogue for such a topic to be addressed, then the appreciation for Mr. Belafonte's disposition on the matter of Obama's use of power. I share the same sentiments as Mr. Belafonte regarding the need for people to hold Obama accountable in using his position to do something about the social imbalance for African Americans. I feel that "we" as a people are fragmented by personal and social indifference's that render us unmindful of the urgency that is need to come together to make such a dramatic change.
I often refer to a quote, which is one of my favorites by the German philosopher, Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, "that none are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe that they are free." How can we as an ethnic group become so complacent with the status quo, as though we have reached some plateau of equality? The audacity by Obama to feel that he has to be pushed by the people in order to acknowledge or act is highly offensive, as though 400 years of social deprivation hasn't proved long enough. African American women has the highest premature birth rate among any ethnicity, do to racial prejudice. Our whole lack of social denial and displacement in our society is atrocious. Our unjust struggles will continue if we as an ethnic group don't wake up as a whole and stand up to take back our existence. I would appreciate your perspective, and I welcome your comments on how you viewed Mr. Belafonte's interview. Thank you.
