Why do people continue to focus on Obama as if he was in control of anything. WAKE UP PEOPLE, the office of the Presidency is just the facade from which the real power pulls the strings and sets policy. He is an excellent messenger, but that is as far as it goes. He is absolutely powerless to do anything outside of what his (and our) masters dictate. If you don't see that then go ahead and campaign your ass-s off, hoot and holler, paint your banners, do your canvassing, your door to door solicitations, rouse your people, motivate, agitate, instigate, and then watch the whole thing come to nought as usual. We got nuthin! We either boycott goods and services or we engage in a full out armed revolution. "The most dangerous man/woman is the one that has nothing left to lose." Anything less than these is just parlor talk, intellectual mind farts.

See "targeting the poor"
When George Bush was in office it appeared that he had more power than Barack Obama? Alot of people claim that Barack Obama has no power? the President does have "Executive Powers" isn't that power? or does the Congress control? Wallstreet Bankers do have a lot of influence over the U.S. Government!
George Bush-Barack Obama.

a D is more sarcastic than anything. There will be no need to discuss with you since your grade is not even in he realm of mindful people.

Because you are discrespecting the President's name I would say most of your opinion is about him is about his person.

Because you type in 'text' (u, ill,..no caps) I'd say your rants are uneducated and off the top of your head and based in anger.

I wouldn't bother having a meaningful discussion with someone such as yourself.

Good day.

No anger period, but I respect your opinion. i just think he hasnt done all of what he has said. Question for you:

why does it take so long for the CBC to meet him and Rev. Al gets the golden pass?

what about the middle class and below?

One thing that I have learned through out my life in this country is that we are never satisfied with the efforts of another. I congratulate president obama for being the *first African American President but that does not exclude him from anything. He is critiqued as those before him. Being a President is a hard job, you have to lie for a living-lol. You have to convince millions of people that change is around the corner when it actually ran out of gas 100 miles back.

We as Americans that are middle class and lower class, this financial segregated state of mind do not care about the capture and death of Bin laden. His capture does not affect the price of my childrens clothing and other necessities. The majority of this country are the "working class", employees not employers. We care about living a lifestyle that is productive, progressive and comfortable.

This is what we rate the president on. How he executes plans he and his administration implemented to bring about "change" in this country. If everyone were gainfully employeed we wouldnt huff and puff about things that are high in price. I live in NYC, I know ppl that are unemployeed but will still spend almost $15 on a pack or cigarettes. I only say that to highlight that many of us have our priorities off track. If we want the President to live up to his word and get this nation on course, shouldnt we do the same with ourselves?

I cant blame Obama for what I'm doing or not doing. If you can give him a D then what would you give yourself and those in your community. I'm just saying, what worldwide terrorist did you and yours bring to justice? lol

MSKM,

Nice post.  People (myself included) really do need to put some focus of attention on themselves.  No one person or gov't policy is going to solve a problem.  At best, a well designed and executed gov't program should provide a pathway.  Individuals, however, have to be willing to walk along that pathway if they expect to get to where they're trying to go.

Peace,

Jeff

As for your comment, “…what about the middle class and below…” let me address the “below” portion.  I’d posted on these pages earlier a summary of William Julius Wilson’s exhaustive study of the ghetto poor, The Truly Disadvantages.  In the study, Wilson lays out the problem of using public policy to help the poor.  Here’s a summary of Wilson’s work:

Wilson basically argues that Affirmative Action (in the public and private sector) and many other government programs designed to address poverty, job training, etc. have been able to reach middle-class and working-poor blacks.  But for the Ghetto poor—those who suffer from long-term (and multi-generational) unemployment (on top of almost zero access to quality education); for those who are so far out on the margin of society that they’re relegated (job-wise) to participation in the underground economy, drug trade, etc.—those folks have not been reached (and, honestly, cannot be reached) by typical  government programs and public policy.  The truly disadvantaged often don’t have the skills necessary to leverage the government’s attempts at helping them beyond food and housing assistance and welfare transfer payments.  But those programs, as necessary as they are, tend to warehouse poor people.  They’re not designed to move people forward.

Peace,

Jeff

Jeff,

I love this discussion! i'm glad we can all come together to agree and sometime agree to disagree! Let me rsvp 2 u:

there will always be people at the bottom of the barrel and yes it takes some self determination and some get up on your own part to get there, but this country whether Obama is president or not has never had and never will have a level playing field. That's just America. My issue with the Obama administration is all this legislation, etc. means absolutely nothing to 90% of Americans when job are scarce. When we was running for office he harped on the grass roots and in my opinion it hasnt happened.

I also concur that he followed behind the worse president ever and he may need a little more time, but the overwhelming opinion from where I'm from(people trying to pull themselves up by their own bootstrap and below) is that Obama can't rely on rhetoric this time around. The black vote for Obama is not garunteed!!
