why not? I know Bill gives dem's and Obama, especially Obama a hard time, and also Black people a hard time as well. But everyone should encourage open dialogue among each other. You can't understand a person from a distance...
good point however 1 good thing about history. it gives u some insight on the future & did u c his last nterview on fox i thought they were very disrespectful not only 2 the president but 2 the man himself & not just that he is meeting with the chamber of congress, he hired mr daily 4 his chief of staff maybe its just me but those moves 2gether has me really thinking what r his plans, n this last mid-term election the GOP won bcause the base just didnt show because of mixed signals , dont get me wrong this president done alot of good things more then any president since L.B JOHNSON BUT WHAT I DONT WANT IS ANOTHER BILL CLINTON with policies that widen the class gap

I don't agree with Bill's view, and even though at times, he's downright despicable, buffonish, and petty. I respect anyone that takes an ironlad stance with their views.

It says a lot about Obama's character and integrity to graciously discuss hot-button issues with his opposition. He's going to receive praise and criticism. WE ALL RECEIVE IT.

It's no secret Fox does lean more toward conservative views, but there's moderates and independents as well. President Obama ought to keep that dialogue going and communication line open. He'll always be in the hotseat as president, just like his predecessors.
I agree that it speaks volumes about Pres. Obama's character that he is willing to sit down with Mr. O'Reilly. I would wish that he had given the opportunity to another though.  I am not really well versed on Mr. O'Reilly...It seems to me though the emphasis placed upon his person impacts his journalist objectivity in a most negative way.  The occurrence is by no means limited to Mr. O'Reilly...
I agree with you, Tessa, that's a great point. We can't forget to acknowledge and mention the politics involved here. I'm sure this is strategic. President Obama must show is prowess, acumen, and savvy as a politician.

We have these cookie-cutter-much- ado-about-nothing civil servants that refuse to go where a little fire is lit under them. Usually results in unsuccessful attempts to reach a broader audience.

President Obama knows you need a broad appeal in politics -- he's masterfully maneuvering himself. It's still politics at the end of the day.

both of u make a good points bout going 2 talk 2 where there is fire however u & i no that there r very few minds over there that he can change so y not re-lite the fire that was lit 2 put him where is right now we all can preach bi-partisanship but 1 thing we dont have 2 preach is that old satin that u cant please everybody . that night after he won the election he made the statement that he was everybodies president which was a great thing however he has 2 stay with his base bcause ur base is ur foundation i voted n the mid-terms but so many of my frieds didnt bcause they couldnt voye 4 the otherside but they put up yhere protest by just not voting evendough i told them that a no-vote was a vote 4 the otherside ther is real frustration out here

I wouldn't necessarily say he's trying to change minds per se. He wants to initiate and provoke dialogue, and hopefully have that lead towards compromise. People have to broaden their horizon.

It's not just President Obama that can't please everyone - none of us can please everyone. I don't feel that's our purpose at all. He just doesn't appeal to everyone, and honestly that's the beauty of it.

Being surrounded by tons of admirers and supporters, in my humble opinion, would be just as detrimental as tons of critics and naysayers. It keeps us balanced, grounded, motivated, and humbled. Praise and constructive criticism go hand in hand.
