Wow! Mr Belafonte is so powerful. He represents the Idea of A Global Man.
His association and collaboration of other Global Giants have made significant contributions to this world. And the ideas of the importance of Artist is so important. It reminds me of my past research in the concepts and ideas of "Music". In that, the primary sources to educate came from this premise. Realizing the Cultural Gate from which I am speaking, yet also recognizing the importance in its evolution and impact on the world.( Muse being associated with Mythlogical Sisters who represented branches of knowledge.)
My connection to this point is that, The Cultural Arts are important points of Meme entries into the society. And when we dont perform on the Stage of Life or the Stages of this world ~ with an understanding of how the listener or viewer will be affected, we lose the opportunity to make social change.
And men like Mr. Belafonte and those whom he has mentioned demonstrates what the benefits are when we perform with Insightful Intelligence.
My love of this man and men such as he is sparked by what they do and how they do it. Dignity always being the light with which they walk(ed) under. To be in such company, to work with such a person is a lifetime hope; in that they are moving with sincere passion and commitment. But to be such a person is a "Calling" that all of us must respond to.
As to the President, I stand not in judgement of him. I dont know what happens behind close doors, what information he has or hasnt been made aware of. I think everyone errs. I support many, his color is a factor but not a variable. So, I dont stand beside him as an Afircan American Man; though I was pleased to see and be a part of his victory. But I do think that we have to figure out ways of addressing one another that moves towards change and not other wise. That we have to be more Insightful on how to make change and how to move others to change.
As each of us has had other speak against us for something we did or didnt do. And we know the personal impact as well as the collective stance.
I look forward to reading the book and watching the documentary.
Love the Term: "Cultural Worker" Gonna write a poem about it. ISA.

Ob how I love these kinds of interviews! Give me an eye-witness to the Black experience and I’m riveted to my seat. I want to thank Brother Harry Belafonte for his service to the Black race which he has no doubt viewed an integral part of his service to humanityl

This was a great interview, and I never get tired of hearing Mr. Belafonte speak. When he spoke of the King family, and what his regrets were, that moment was priceless. It something that I learned from, and will make me a better person. I hope at some point the King family meets with him to heal any wounds as was done as it relates to race relations in America. How can family not do what we are preaching to the world about love and forgiveness. Mr. Belafonte is a national treasure, and you both did a great job interviewing him.

Too many of US Black people have lost our Moral Courage and the Moral high ground. We need those shinney objects to define ourselves. During the civil rights strugggle we had everthing to gain and nothing to loose but our lifes. It was equality or nothing. Today we have too much to loose to tell the truth and/or stand-up for the rights of our children and grand children. Our problem is with US not the master. We have become our own oppressors.

None of the current Black leaders are concerned about corruption at EEOC because they're all have taking some form of kickbacks. Maxine Water Representative from Compton Ca, was interviewed by Donald Winkfield of Black Star News this month (December) and she said the EEOC is not investigating Black complaints because of the lack of Budget. This is a lie to cover-up for the corruption at the EEOC. Mr. Winkfield told Maxine Waters that the EEOC is dismissing all Black complaints and he has a Senior Federal Investigator who has evidence and witnessed same. Maxine Waters didn't ask to speak to Ricardo Jones. All of the Black politicians are in on the gaming of Black people. Many of the Black elite accept the corruption against their own people and benefit from same. See Fear does different things to different people. Elite Blacks earn a well paid living from white bigots. Elite Blacks will never bite the hand that feeds them. When the elite Blacks are finally forced to confront racism and lose they cave-in totally and just accept the condition that has feed them all the time. Our real enemy are the elite Blacks. Don't take me wrong we as Black people need to unite under Pan-Africanism which means: African Americans, Blacks for Caribian and South America, All Blacks from Africa must vote as a block just like other ethnic groups ie: Jews, Irish, Italians, Asians, latins and others. We must force obama to include a PLANK in his re-election platform which addresses our concerns "JOBS and a RIGHT TO WORK IN A HOSTILE FREE WORK ENVIRONMENT and enforce all current laws reference same and update/reform same.
If obama doesn't then we will vote against him (obama) and any politician who supports him (obama). None of this the devil I know verse the Devil I don't know BS. We don't have much time to do this or it will be four more years of YES WE CAN which lead to what???
The Black community will not survive as little corrupt white people . This is the position of the Black elite. Once again if you replace a Bad white COP with a Bad Black COP we accomplish nothing. Because they both beat heads for the same reasons??? Steve Biecko a GREAT Black Leader of South Africians said this and was killed for it and for standing up of his peoples (Blacks) rights. For the those who don't know who Steve Beicko is Danzel Washington played Steve Beicko in the GREAT GREAT movie "CRY FREEDOM" which was made to show the conversion of a White liberal editor from South Africa Donald Woods. This is a brave man. I will always remember that he stood by Dr. Kings side. Belafonte collected the money needed to bail King out of that Bermingham jail, but King refused at first. Dr. King wanted to sit in the jail for some time. When he was ready to come out of jail, he told Belafonte to come on and bring the money. As a celebrity, the press tried to get Belafonte to speak against Dr. King,he would not. Belafonte remained loyal to his culture...love him for that.

Read that as Steve Biko. Steve Biko (aka Stephen Bantu Biko) was a foremost Black Nationalist leader assassinated by the Apartheid regime in South Africa before that ignoble charade of a social vice collapsed and the supporting government apparatus was swept into the rubbish heap of history.

Dear Friend:
Thank you for writing to share your thoughts. I appreciate hearing from you.
My Administration is committed to reform that ensures Government serves the public interest rather than special interests. The day after my inauguration, I signed my first Presidential Memorandum,"Transparency and Open Government," calling for a more transparent, participatory, and collaborative Government that engages with the American people. That same day, I signed an Executive Order that imposes tougher ethics standards on this Administration than any in history. For too long, lobbyists have wielded undue influence, and this Executive Order helps close the "revolving door" between lobbying firms and Government.
Our efforts have continued since those initial steps. My Administration issued an Open Government Directive instructing every Federal agency to take immediate steps to open their operations to the public. This Directive adds to current resources we have created to increase transparency, including Data.gov, a warehouse of Government information. We are also using easy-to-understand websites like Recovery.gov and it.usaspending.gov to cut down on fraud, waste, and abuse by tracking Government spending. And, for the first time ever, Americans can view White House visitor records online, where tens of thousands of these records are made available every month.
While we have made historic progress, much work remains. The American people deserve to know who is spending money to influence their votes, so special interests do not drown out the voices of ordinary Americans, and I remain committed to stemming the flood of foreign funding into our elections. With the participation of more Americans, I am confident our Government can uphold our Nation's founding principles while meeting the demands of the 21st century.
