Permalink Reply by LibyaWest on October 15, 2011 at 3:30pm As I look as these quick facts (and I claim 0 expertise in statistics), it looks to me as if the main ways in which Montana differs from the averages in the other states is in the categories of race and size (population and density). I think, more than anything else, that these two factors account for the Montanan's (sp?) willingness to lend its fellows a helping hand and for its refusal to incarcerate huge numbers of its citizens.

Permalink Reply by David M Monk on October 16, 2011 at 2:24pm Greetings,
Governor Schweiter models "Human Governing", base on the human element of intellect and best practices for effective human results. I wish we could develop a model based on his governing leadership that lends itself to a job description and requirements for all governors in the U.S. This governor is on point with high standards, best practices, and competencies that demonstrates effective results.
It would be great to require all governors with humane delayed concerns to adopt "The Schweitzer model", for governing a state. I would love to see a diverse and intelligent team develop the framework for this governing process for U.S. governors. The model should be fluent with required benchmarks to be obtained. The Workshop could be called "The Schweitzer Model for Governing.
Keep in mind that Gov. Schweitzer is intelligent and is a global thinker within his discipline also, culturally competent, multilingual, and passionate about people and not about the blood lust of money. You might say with vigor I admire this Governor and I hope Florida could have a governor like this one day. Wink-Wink!!
Keep the Faith!

then ? they would address the fact that FDA Drugs kill 300% more Americans than illegal drugs ...
More and more smoke screens is all I see in this interview.
Less talk and MORE ACTION is the only thing needed in this day and age.
It worked in the past ... why fix what's not broke ?
Permalink Reply by Byard Pidgeon on November 5, 2011 at 11:07am Montana has an interesting history...it was once heavily union, and major labor actions took place. In recent decades, more left-leaning people have moved there. Fairly high proportions of visual artists and musicians (some high profile types, too), and a Children's Theatre that tours the country doing workshops.
Very few AAs, but a higher proportion of NAs than most states. The wide open spaces in Montana may alleviate the symptoms of urban overcrowding?
I know a few Montanans, some who were raised there and moved on, some who moved there later in life. Overall, they seem hard to categorize politically, but in general I think of them as "populist progressive".
