...a perfect example of the use of "soft power"....bringing Hip-Hop to China

Another way...a non-militaralistic American presence...

We are made to believe force is the only way and we are most certainly ill-informed, force is the only way utilized in the past, imperialism and colonialism are the tools of the past.

The U.S. has so much to offer and will most certainly be enriched by exchange, history proves this...

The entrenched, "old guard" in this country unwilling or incapable of understanding this needs to be made irrelevant...

Oh no....no...no...NOooooooooooo!  Not the SAGGING!
No place to post this so......I wish that the topic of the Black Chinese Dynasties (Xia and Shang?) had come up or been brought up during this trip. I would've loved to have heard the Chinese take on this bit of history. (Ooh whew! That's way too much "english"ing for my taste!)
I've been here in China for about 5 years now and so far i have had many downs and just as many ups, i first heard and saw Mr Andrew Ballen on Travelogue a prominent travel magazine show on China's CCTV-i was here already for 3 years i think and i saw this 'Brother' and if Mr Ballen reads this he would know what i mean. Hosting this Chinese Travel show going around to all these exotic corners of the magnificent land of the PRC-in fluent Mandarin too. Always wanted to meet and know more about him so thanks to S&W for allowing me that. Dr West i would have loved to be at D10 (a frequent of mine when iam in Shanghai by the way) celebrating your birthday and being witness to tail-feather shaking. ha ha
Your taste buds were right about that! The simple message was "I would have loved to hear or I would love to have heard the Chinese take on this bit of history...." The meandering affectation put on sounded like swinging to the other extreme from trying a little too hard.
