Ha! It's even worse than West said. An avowed conservative, Bruce Bartlett, said on Bill Moyers' show that Obama is an Eisenhower Republican...of course, Bartlett didn't mention "blackface".

Cornel,

Once again you’re trying to defend the indefensible. And once again you’re trying to blame your critics for your failure to communicate effectively. When you make a comment, it is up to YOU to keep your message focused and uncluttered enough to communicate your ideas effectively, not the listener.

In addition, when a listener listens to a speaker, he or she is not simply listening to the content of the speaker’s message, he’s also assessing the messenger himself for any subtleties or nuances that might suggest a hidden agenda, reckless and inefficient thinking, or any other shortcomings that might mitigate the weight that he should assign to the speaker’s message. Thus, when you added “in blackface” to your comment, considering it’s racist connotation, you should have known that it would overwhelm what you insist was the “core” of your statement. So the mere fact that you now, in my opinion, feign that the uproar caught you by complete surprise, speaks volumes about either your judgment, or your veracity.

West, I used to be a huge fan of both you and Smiley’s. But your tendency to engage in reckless, irresponsible, and unsubstantiated statements like the one currently under discussion led me to start researching who you really are nearly five years ago, and what I’ve found is literally embarrassing. Now, with this latest controversy, you’re merely reinforcing what I already know - if you were even close to the “powerful intellectual” that your 35 years of hype has suggested, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. And brother, that’s comin’ from a common hood rat.

No, Candace,

It was enough five years ago when Tavis and West started this campaign of Black-on-Black racism. Now it's time to call them on it, and as they're so fond of saying, "make them "accountable."

The Black community has been suffering from their kind of poison for over 400 hundred years. So now it's time to call them to task and bring this kind of intraracial bigotry to an end once and for all. It is also past time for the Black community to stop allowing the corporate establishment to select our heroes. So it's on, and many of us in the Black community consider it VERY serious business.

So, Candace, if you think this is child's play, you're seriously out of touch with what's going on in the Black community.

Candace,

I'm not going to go back and forth with you on this. It doesn't matter where you grew up, where you teach, or where your family lives - I'm sure that Clarence Thomas, Larry Elder, and Herman Cain's families live in the hood as well - if you don't recognize the 400 year history of Smiley and West's behavior and the divisive and toxic affect that it's had on the Black community, you're out of touch with reality and on the wrong side of history.

If you were truly in touch with the sentiments of the vast majority of people in the Black community you would recognize that these two individuals have become toxic. Clear evidence of that is in spite of their very best effort, President Obama got a bigger response from the Black community in the last election than he did the first time he ran.  The only reason that Tavis and West are still visible at this point is that they're being propped up by their corporate manipulators. But even that's going to come to and end as the corporate interests begin to realize that they've become a liability rather than an asset in the Black community. They are literally hemorrhaging former supporters. My email is being deluged by their former supporters on a daily basis.

Tavis and West are about to go the way of Amos n Andy.

Candace,

I detect a bit of an incongruence here. How can you profess to be an educator, while at the same time, be against the dissemination of knowledge? After all, one must communicate to educate. In addition, moving society forward is a group effort. Everyone has their role. So I have a suggestion. Why don’t we agree to do what we’re best suited for? You continue to teach 2nd grade, and I won’t look over your shoulder, and I’ll continue to go about the business of educating the adults, and you don’t look over mine.

Bro. Eric,

Am following your trend of thought and others'  on this discourse. Excellent. And interesting.

There is a simple, but commonly missed fact by many. The best jingles hardly sell much of a bad product, at least, not for long and not to the discerning. No matter how I slice and dice it, I may have limited success selling ice to Eskimos.

Ham is still ham (and considered harmful) to Indian Muslims. The American fast-food giant, McDonald's, learnt that lesson a short while back; its initial attempt to sell its hamburgers to Indians failed miserably. Now, in all of its 100+ outlets in India, McDonald's distances itself from its hamburgers synonymous with its corporate brand. Indiamarks (2012) noted that "instead of ground beef and pork patties, the McDonald’s Menu in India features Indian burgers that are 100 percent vegetarian." For further details, interested readers can go to http://www.indiamarks.com/what-you-can-and-cant-get-at-mcdonalds-in...

Smiley&West and other mini-me McDonald's may do well to borrow a leaf from their corporate models. The overwhelming Black vote for President Obama in 2008 and 2012 (as you noted) is an acid test of how well (or not) Tavis and Cornel's anti-Obama campaigns are resonating with most African Americans. Same goes for most Latinos, Asian-Americans and the sizable percentage of Caucasian Americans who voted for the president in 2008 and 2012. It is simply bad marketing and bad mathematics to keep preaching the same socio-political sermon that resonates only with the preachers themselves and a handful of their fans (or fanatics). Even John The Baptist recognized the limits of being a "lone voice crying in the wilderness."

Lets not forget the families of our WARRIORS! THE DR. ISSA, HIS WIFE AND HIS FOUR

CHILDREN. Many Black People have forgot how to fight against oppession and Race

Discrimination. Many benefit from the efforts of true Warriors like Dr. Issa. We fail to

support the true HERO'S of the Movement. I wish I had more to give to the Issa's of the

Black community.

GOD BLESS THE ISSA'S.

This is the reply from a young government investigator from the EEOC when confronted about corruption at his agency:

Alvin Mallette has sent you a message.

Date: 12/25/2012

Subject: RE: EEOC Corruption

What a joke of a video. There is a huge difference between corruption and inefficiency. The EEOC is far from perfect but your claims are beyond the pale and do not take into account budget constraints or how the agency was starved during the Bush administration. Don't send me any more of these videos. Also you are in a fantasy world if you believe that ALL the race complaints that come in are legit. It's a shame I have to see this trash first thing Christmas morning.
