Jam on, my brother! We can no longer afford to take a seat among the the ill- or uninformed! The price
we've paid for that "privilege" has been way too high. So, teach!

Dr. West, with respect, you are wrong about Hamas when you state that Hamas exists because of the occupation, as if this conflict was about land or social justice. I appreciate your compassion, both for the Palestinian people and for all people who are suffering in this world, which I share also. But it seems to me you are projecting your experience of the Black people here in the United States onto the Palestinians, and the situation in the Middle East is very different. The main difference is that African Americans, except for the Black Panthers, etc., never called for the overthrow, or the destruction of the United States, or for the annihilation of all whites, or for a separate state. African Americans had a real leader for peace in Martin Luther King, Jr. who was staunch in his belief in achieving civil rights through non-violence.
Hamas, on the other hand, states as its goal the destruction of Israel. Read its Charter, which calls for the destruction of the Jewish people. It has no interest in co-existing with Israel whatsover. Please read the whole thing:

They are dedicated to creating a fundamentalist Islamic state of the entire area of Palestine, much like what exists today in Iran or Saudi Arabia. They are part of the larger project of the Muslim Brotherhood. Dr. West, you seem completely unaware of this reality or are unwilling to acknowledge it.
From the Hamas charter:
"[Peace] initiatives, the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement. For renouncing any part of Palestine means renouncing part of the religion; the nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its faith, the movement educates its members to adhere to its principles and to raise the banner of Allah over their homeland as they fight their Jihad: 'Allah is the all-powerful, but most people are not aware.' ”
