In a blog published yesterday in Psychology Today by Satoshi Kanazawa, an evolutionary psychologist, about the physical attractiveness of women, Kanazawa made an argument that Black Women are physically less attractive than black woman. Fortunately, Psychology Today has put this blog by Mr. Kanazawa down so you can't read it, but that doesn't mean that people still shouldn't be outraged.
This bloy was offensive on so many levels and truthfully, it's not only offensive and racist under the thin veil of science. This article reminds me of Charles Murray's book "The Bell Curve" from 1994 that used nonsensical social science and BS statistics to suggest that African Americans are inherently intellectually inferior.
Beyond the idiocy of the person who actually wrote this garbage, I'm just as appalled and upset at the people in the editing room at Psychology Today who actually OK'd. They need to reprimanded if not outright fired. Furthermore, whether it's this article, or the attack on Michelle Obama during the 2008 Presidential election as the so called "Angry Black Woman", or the way in which single black women are indirectly being blamed for many of the issues within the black woman, or anti-abortion activist going into black neighborhoods with billboards essentially making black women the face or abortion, or the continued myth that black women are the face of food stamps and welfare, what is up this recent attacks demonizing black women. And this garbage, this shyte article only adds on to the ongoing attacks about black women over the past few years.
And finally, more than black women should be upset at this article. Black men, who are a product of black women and at some point have loved a black woman at some point in their life. Therefore, they should be equally outraged by this and should speak out and speak out as loudly as black woman. This is nonsense!!!

Permalink Reply by Rudolph Hickman on May 17, 2011 at 1:03pm I learned of this outrageous piece of 'science' fiction today. Since then I have done a bit of research on both the author ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satoshi_Kanazawa) and the piece of dribble he attempts to palm off as science (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3412493). While what was written is disturbing, I am more appalled that a renown professional magazine chose to print it. It is Birth of A Nation revisited. I predict the nearer we get to the November elections, we will see more and more of these vicious and senseless pieces of dribble.
My theory is this. If a renown magazine sees fit to publish such an incendiary and insulting article as this, it must be sending a message to someone. Yes, the message is for us in a way but we are not really the intended target. The message is being sent to those who believe that somehow people-of-color have taken their country away from them and they want it back.
Messages like this only reinforce misguided and ill-conceived notions harbored by those who need someone to blame. People-of-color have historically borne an inconceivable amount of blame for the country's failures and this time is no different.
In short, we are universally admired. Of course, we will never hear that from those who have done everything in their power to destroy us. So on we go. And every time our captors find someone, no anyone, who is bold enough to say in public what they think and feel in private, they will utilize him/her to express their message of hate and dissension.
The good news is my sisters and brothers, we are still here and we will continue to amaze the universe by our resilience and remarkable ability to survive.
The next challenge is to harness the political potential that lies dormant within us so that one day we will live as the kings and queens we were meant to be.
There is much work to do. Let's not be distracted by someone who knows absolutely nothing about us,
our struggle or our potential.
Peace and blessings...

Permalink Reply by Wanda Renee on May 17, 2011 at 5:26pm The ploy to use the psyche to block positive growth and continue oppression in our communities is long been the main idea for other races in this country and others. The only thing we can do is ignore it and tell our young children they are beautiful in their heart, mind, and spirit. As Bri'on said, "Beauty is in the Eye," but the other part is, "Of the beholder." Know this Mr. Wilson as long as other races try to hold down or judge other races they are only showing how important the race which they are trying to hold down is, and they will only show how ignorant they are.
We are the original people do not forget that. Teach, Teach, Teach - a new generation will change the way we see ourselves and others and only through teaching the true value of our children will this idiotic behavior change. DON'T LET THE WORDS STIR YOU JUST CHANGE IT FOR A POSITIVE TOMORROW...TRUTH!
Permalink Reply by safirah chinwe on May 17, 2011 at 6:37pm This is why it is so important to demand that our children are taught more than the 3 Rs'. It is important and should be mandatory that analytical components be added to the education of our children. For the TRUTH is that the land mines and IEDs of racism are in the very structure of the educational industrial complex our children are forced to attend. The best tool to oppress a people...is an oppressed mind.
