Knowing what we're up against today, especially with most folks living in poverty, what makes YOU hopeful?? #ThePovertyTour
“MAY THE TRUTH BE TOLD” …
Greetings: To My Dearest Tavis,
To answer your question, here are my returned comments:
In-spite of the growing numbers of individuals, who are facing & experiencing poverty at this present moment, I’m very positive in knowing that, there are “many” who have not given over into the stage of: “Quitting & Letting Go” …
Sure, “the statistic” may say that, many of our fellow Americans have “Given-UP” on their “job searches” …But, I have to (gracefully disagree) with them, because, they fail to realize the “other true factors”, as to “why”, they “may appear” to have “disappeared”, out of the job search mode / market …
The truth for some individuals, are these very common factors such as: Many have “limited funds and resources” …Many have to choose either to keep the: (internet connection on, or have the service turned off), just to make sure that, they have enough funds to eat” …
And they may, (if they have the additional funds), may go to the “local library”, for their job searches, but, in reality, the library only provides the use of: (1 hour a day, or maybe 2 hours), it really depends on the “location”, and the “amount of people”, who may be in need to use of the computers …
Some, in reality, again, are faced and challenge to see “what’s really important, and what’s not important” … Of course, everyone has a different “value system”, and many have to make some very serious choices, while, at the same time, they are still trying to keep their “self esteem” and still maintain a “positive strong attitude”, all during the process, of seeking for work … “Despite, some of the (rejection notices) in which, they may receive, from their job searches” …
Also, please keep in mind, there are some individuals, who have “limited transportation” too … And just having the “funds available”, to reach these (potential job locations) can be very challenging as well … And for many, this too, is a “big step in faith”, because, you can go on the job interview, but, it’s “not guaranteed” that, you’ll be the “chosen one” for the job! …
Some in reality, are what I call, are in the: (“stuck mode”) … These are the individuals, who are between the ages of: (45 - 60) … They are very well skilled and experienced, but, they are not allowed to apply for (early retirement) … “So, in reality, many are faced with (age discrimination), and are over looked!” … “This too, is a real, and over-looked reality too!” …
“Again, it’s heart breaking to know that, because of this “very truth”, many have became “ill”, and have broken spirits - (hearts), and “diabetes” and many other illnesses, has “become on the rise”, all because of the (internal frustrations), in which, many are facing today, and many have turned to “drinking & drugs”, as a “way of escape”, and yet, they fail to realize that, this too, their (illnesses) can “limit them” for “new found work opportunities, as well” …
Ps: It’s truly sad to say, but, they’re keeping the (sweet food companies, pharmaceuticals & drug companies & alcohol beverage companies) “alive and well”, while, they are still keeping their employees working! …
And if they do not get the job, many are left feeling, and asking themselves, “did I waste my time, and cash funds?” … Or should I have waited for “another potential job opportunity” that, may not have been, so much of a “risk - (a chance player), in regards, to my limited finances?” …
Ps: Again, it’s a “big gamble” out there, and for some, it‘s a “very serious risk” for some, who have very limited funds” …
For another example: Think about those individuals, who have (exhausted their unemployment funds) … Again, they - (the journalist) do not seem to want to cover such “real subject matters” … But, again, these individuals, are “very limited” as to finding work too! … “Borrowing money from family members, and friends, have it’s limits too!” … And this dilemma can be very frustrating as well, while, trying to find work! … “And this too, is a very serious reality for many” …
Ps: There’s a true saying: “You will never know how one feels through and experience, until (you, yourself), have actually, walked into their shoes” … (SELAH - “Think on this seriously”) …
I personally, just wish that, the journalist, would seriously take these matters all in consideration, and try to (vision themselves) in these individuals lives!” … And believe me, I believe they will have a very different point of view!” …
Once again, “MAY THE TRUTH BE TOLD” … this is just a “small fracture”, of ones’ point of view, of the “big job market picture” and it’s challenges, in which, many are facing today …
But, I am “very grateful and hopeful” that, there are (still) many individuals, who have “not given up”, on their hopes and dreams, and that, they are still standing “strong and resilient!” ….
“Many Thanks, be unto (our heavenly father above), for his love, peace, protection, and many “unseen” wonderful provisions, and for all of those individuals, who are still determined, keep their hearts and minds on thee”, with the “known fact and assurance” that, “everything has its due season and perfect timing” …(smile) …
Sincerely, with blessings & beyond Measure,
Ms. Deborah J. Steele
