Haven't read it (yet); sorry.

I'm about 300 pages in. I've been a buff for finding book, FBI files, and things on Malcolm and the NOI.

He is pretty correct on most parts. I do like how Manning used actual background info to support the info.

The most shocking info so far was the Bi-sexual aspects he spoke of from the Detroit Red days. A relationship with a William Paul Lennon, and also the true aspects of his  relationship with Betty (his wife)

Not to put anything together about it. It seems. In all aspects of his life. I see Malcolm like I see and respect Miles Davis. The way they are compleatly different at every level of thier life is very compelling to my thoughts.

I'm also reading about T. Monk and looking at the world as a whole around that time.

Ok..thanks for replying first..I am now going to look at Miles life...but I think if Malcolm was on drugs to have engaged in any firm of deviant behavior might not be surprising..let's talk as you read.

Paula, I must say. I have looked at brother Malcolm as my human guide. I still like how Manning draws the lines in the book about how Malcolm started to prepare for the break from NOI. It shows that he did not actually believe that the one he loved so much, and thanked for his new life would betray him. But the fact that Malcolm held the secret meetings after the start of the break. This shows that he was not as in the dark, most thought he was. Muhammad truly loved Malcolm as most of NOI, but Muhammad could not control the situation, his heir's (all of them). They all knew to well that that NOI would be cast into a drastic change, but no one wanted the change Malcolm wanted and died for.

On the side of no one is where America wanted to be, as ordered and executed by J.E. Hover.

You put Malcolm, King, Kennedy, and Evers in a room together, and America becomes the place that transforms the world into the promise it said it could be. So they are dead, and in the order needed to keep us lock step with the agenda of all heir's to this world.  The heir's take the prize, and we get nothing until we understand thier agenda.

A very good book, so far (398 pgs, lol)

Paula Cherie jones said: So what do you think Manning Marable's intent was in exposing these aspects of Malcolm's life?  There is some controversy around that.  I have always loved Malcolm because to me he epitomized all that a man should be and that never meant I thought him to be perfect.  I didn't have a lot of background on the NOI so I really appreciated the lesson especially as it pertains to the difference between NOI and Islam as a religion.  I wish I better understood your statement "understanding thier agenda"  Thanks for the convo.

I think its much like Matt wrote about Jesus family tree. This is what he came from, to get where he was, to be who he is. When you read Matt vs Mark,Luke,John. You get the true meaning of the life line. No holds. ie. (son of David and Bathsheba).

To the understanding of my statement about "what they want" Ask what Manning had to show. "who all benifits from the actions" if Malcolm is allowed to take our issues to the UN and bring about a world platform. He becomes closer to all causes in and out of the US. If he does it, his movement would become the greatest respected. NOI and US politics would be damaged beyond repair. They would HAVE to be re-built, which means the people already in control, would no longer be in control, lol.

I have a really hard time navigating this site so I haven't followed up on the discussion.  But I got your message re Malcolms speeches.  Have you finished the book?  Comments?  And thank you for the recommendation around listening to his speeches.  Do you have any specific sites to direct me to?

First, if you want to follow the discussions you start or comment in, just click on your page, then click discussions. It will give you a list of only the ones your are and have responded to (hope that helps)

Second, If you go to Amazon.com, and search Malcolm X speeches, it will give you a cd and Mp3 list. I download music and things from Amazon, its easy and quick I got All time Malcolm X Speeches

http://www.amazon.com/All-Time-Greatest-Speeches/dp/B002OPJJII/ref=...

. You do have to download a Amazon Mp3 program, but its quick and easy. I like it ove itunes cause its Mp3 so I can play it on any player i have.

Last, I did finish the book last week. I thought it could have ended better, but I'm an X buff, lol. There is a really good book to read that i read a long time ago. It was about the first FBI CIA files released. It's funny cause of all the blacked out pages, and the fact it was put out by a Jewish guy. I will have to find it and tell you the name of it.

Take care
