Tavis, you don't like President Obama, you never have and you will find ANYTHING to bring him down.  Your mother is a preacher, I can only imagine she can see through your ruse to bring the President down.  You will find any thing to do just that.  You say it is because he is not doing anything for black people.  Well what about the Health Care program.  What about the tax incentive.  Now the Republicans want to repeal that.  Why don't you put your efforts into that.  Listen Tavis, you need to back off.  Take up your cause for Black people and DO something.  Your conventions aren't doing a darn thing but a lot of talking and NO action.  I have put more things into place in my community and I have a mentee who is still on the right path.  There are other young Black people who are accomplishing fantastic things.  STOP trying to get the President to do your job...YOU DO IT!  I am tired of your stuff.  LEAVE MY PRESIDENT ALONE!!!

"When compared, it is almost impossible to find a poor and or working class Black person they have helped."

No I have seen Sharpton and Jackson come to the aid and also take actions that benefit the poor and working class. In 1982 when Jacksons Operation Push reached a $500 million Affirmative Agreement with Burger King demanding 1. Increased minority participation in all levels with 21% black employment. Black ownership levels to 15% and Advertising Promotion work business want 15% to go to Black firms. But get this Diversified Foods paid $300 million for Godfather Pizza which was generating $242 million in sales got sold to Herman Cain for $40 million and gave him 9 mos to seek financing. see. http://jayraskin.wordpress.com/2011/10/31/the-godfather%E2%80%99s-g...

There are two Black Americas. They are seperate and unequal. This is clearly visable in who civil rights leaders, Black politicians and other prominent blacks will come to the aid of. When compared, it is almost impossible to find a poor and or working class Black person they have helped.

Confusion in the Black Community.

First we must identify the different social levels in the Black community.

  1. Black Poor
  2. Black working class
  3. Black elitist and/or the former middle class
  4. Black intellectuals

Second we must identify Pan-Africa.

  1. Blacks from/born in Africa
  2. Blacks from/born in south American and Caribbean
  3. Blacks from/born in north American

The above shows just a few of the social economical differences among Black people. Some of the other dividing factors are age, color, mixture of white blood and language abilities.  The most important issue in the Black community is social status, not Job’s, education and/or equal protection under the law. We have reached a point where titles and/or degree’s and position are our driving force in life. Some of US Black people were raised to be the best at what ever we aspired to be. Others among US have accepted to be just as corrupt as our oppressor. Today we hold positions of status not true power because power has corrupted US as it did our oppressor.  Power in the hands of a child is dangerous as our oppressor believe. This is why today’s decisions are similar to our oppressors. Today we oppress ourselves out of fear of what our former and present oppressor may think. The laws of the country no longer apply to US Black people made clear by the lack of enforcement by the local, state and federal government.   Today we fear to hold the president accountable for anything to avoid the criticism of the far right. What lies can we tell ourselves to believe this can lead to a prosperous future for our children and grand children.

Pianki, thats what the Rogue/Corrupt EEOC was supposed to be doing for Black people and others. obama appointed his wife's friend (Jacqueline Berrien) from Harvard Law School to head the phony EEOC. Some people of color never stand-up for anything to help anyone but themselves and there friends. Please lets not confuse holder, berrien and others appointed by obama with Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Jackson back in the day. harvard and columbia doesn't mean you support civil rights. Many of our people attend these schools and forget where they come from. Sharpton and Jackson have paid their dues in the past and present. Today they recieve the benefits from the good done in the past. I went to Sharpton to help expose and reform the Rogue and/or corrupt EEOC. But because Sharpton supports obama who appointed Jacqueline Berrien to head the Rogue EEOC Sharpton turned his back on me (Ricardo Jones, Former Senior Federal Investigator EEOC-NYDO) and the Black community. I called in on Sharpton's radio show and he cut me off to avoid talking about the Rogue EEOC he supports. Why should we vote for the obama again? Just because he looks Black and went to columbia and harvard.

The important thing that we must do regardless of how many social classes there are is this: We must control the economics as it pertains to that which we consume and use for our subsidence in all categories. Blacks and black African-Americans must start and develope "Viable Businesses". Prsently 87% of all of the said groups businesses gross less than $50k yrly. As an ethnic group their statistic as it pertains to wealth and health does not even look American. As it pertains to educational, social, cultural, and economical indicators the numbers are very dismal and embarrashing. To be precise with this President those measures of success has in fact became more dismal indeed.

Thank you Pianki, thats what I've been saying economic clout equals political clout. Political clout (MONEY) controls the whitehouse/president/obama. We must stop begging for protection from phony politicians. Some how we respect those who "sellout" to the "highest bidder". I have no respect for SELLOUTS and/or PHONY Black/Black Looking and/or white Politicians. Because it looks like we sit at the seat of the highest corrupt politics does not make me feel good about being Black. Some of US are very happy about the lack of LEADERSHIP TODAY. There's a big difference between a LEADER and a CORRUPT POLITICIAN.

Sorry Painki that don't pass the smell test.

First trickledown economics is not civil rights. The intent is to help prominent Blacks and some low paying jobs trickle down to poor and working class Blacks. Secondly, every civil rights organization has those contracts with corporate America. This is the way they pay off Civil rights leaders. Cross Check Discrimination complaints against civil right contracts and donations to civil rights organizations and the CBC. Herman Cain is not poor. IF THEY HAVE A BINDING CONTRACT, WHAT ABOUT THIS:

Glad you chimed in Jimmy.

Safirah chinwe:

Sorry for this late answer; somehow I missed your post. First, I never said withhold votes. I simply said: Ask for something in return. And secondly, the Republicans seem to win without Black votes. They have won the white house 28 out of the last 47 years. When Obama came in, he had a filibuster proof Congress and Blacks got nothing him. Obama needs Blacks to stay in the party so he can fight for the Hispanic, Gay and Independent vote. You mean to tell me all those people died in vain so we could use our vote to keep out the Republicans.

Burger King has switch boats to adapt to the present consumer environment is a smart move.  Why didn’t the black own Ad Agencies do the same? Businesses must target markets that them selves are in an ever changing society where one size does not fit all. Sounds like the disease of voting straight democrat for ever, this practice appears to have its drawbacks too. Why we continue to have animosity against “Rich and Wealthy” Blacks is beyond me. The poor is a necessary reality. Rich whites, rich Asians, rich Arabs are going to take care of their poor whites, poor Asians, and poor Arabs and rightfully so. With 87% of black business grossing less than $50k yearly, this tragedy ranks right up there with the worse of them. Look at the Blacks in the automotive industry made possible due to activism by the likes of Jackson and Sharpton during the times of Civil Rights may not been enough but a good start indeed

Pianki

Come on; what do you mean a good start? We have a monument on the mall in DC and we celebrate a national holiday, MLK Day. That’s supposed to mean victory.  I.e. We celebrate July 4th; you don’t see the IRS sending a check to King George. We are taking layaway way too far. We are the only people who build a monument, celebrate the holiday and put the freedom on layaway. As for Burger King and the Black ad agency, that’s the politically correct way to say: The Mexicans are coming. Guess what? We are helping them to get here.

The smell comes from many flavors. Jackson and Sharpton were not the only ones.

In the early 1960s, Percy Green, II, went from gang member to in-your-face activist with the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE) in St. Louis, helping lead demonstrations against companies that refused to hire African Americans.

We went to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. We demanded 600 jobs for minorities, and we gave them 10 days to do it, knowing full well we weren't going to get any more in 10 days than we were in 6 years. Why not shorten the time that we were going to give them and get on with the fight? We did that with Southwestern Bell, Union Electric, Laclede Gas, and other companies. We developed our program around more and better-paying jobs for the black man because he was the chief breadwinner in our social structure.

Percy Green: “I think they just wanted to get rid of me due to my Civil Rights activities and, in doing so, would sacrifice a few whites and hire them back, once I was out the door, so I was let go”. http://www.rivercityexaminer.com/percy.html

We need to work for our own, just like we were doing thousands of years before.

A thousand years ago? How about 50 years ago. You can’t serve two masters. We had separate but equal; but that wasn’t good enough. We created the Harlem Renaissance, in Durham, NC was the Black Wall Street right next  to “white Only” water fountains. And, many more, including a professional baseball league. Then someone said: take all your money to the White community; accept Affirmative Action and you will be equal. Now black people rather be remembered for being slaves and being mistreated by White people. That’s why today we only value our lives when a white Man kills us. It’s that slave mentality we keep hanging on. Not even God tried to change a people like that. As for Al Sharpton and the civil rights industries, you get the reprensetive you deserve.
