Tavis, you don't like President Obama, you never have and you will find ANYTHING to bring him down.  Your mother is a preacher, I can only imagine she can see through your ruse to bring the President down.  You will find any thing to do just that.  You say it is because he is not doing anything for black people.  Well what about the Health Care program.  What about the tax incentive.  Now the Republicans want to repeal that.  Why don't you put your efforts into that.  Listen Tavis, you need to back off.  Take up your cause for Black people and DO something.  Your conventions aren't doing a darn thing but a lot of talking and NO action.  I have put more things into place in my community and I have a mentee who is still on the right path.  There are other young Black people who are accomplishing fantastic things.  STOP trying to get the President to do your job...YOU DO IT!  I am tired of your stuff.  LEAVE MY PRESIDENT ALONE!!!

Pianki all due respect to you, but you don't know about James Brown who is not an authority on civil rights he was just an entertainer. This is where we make our bigest mistakes as Black people. We believe in the wrong people at the wrong time. I'm not a big Lincoln (president) supporter that said. You can fool some of the people some of the time. You can fool most of the people most the time. But you can't fool all the people all the time. This was said by Abraham Lincoln. James Brown was a great entertainer but he as many others of the times became used by Bigots to influence Black people against there interests. I'm not going to try to give a Black history class.

Today many of our leaders/entertainers/athlete's of the past and present along with educated people who suffered very little based on Race discrimination have sold-out for their self interests. Jimmy Pratt fought the KLAN (KKK) and won in North Carolina with many others. Many civil rights so called leaders went down to NC and took pay-off's from the KLAN and its supporters. Jimmy Pratt was there and saw what happened. I was't there so please attempt to contact Mr. Pratt directly for more info. That said I did deal with Rev. Al presently and he let me and the Black community down. Many members of our community have done good in the past but sellout today. My point is don't judge a Black person by the color of there skin, education or any badge of status. Judge us all by our actions not intent or talk. Money talks and BS walks.

But given a long enough time even the greatest will fault. After all baseball great Ted Williams was successful 4 out of 10 times. I have heard some Blacks down the Tuskegee Airman. Blacks in Goldsboro Fla. armed themselves and turned the Klan back also during a time when thge courts never would have been in their favor while in Platt's time it did. It was decades of activity like the activism of Sharpton and others that made changes which led to other changes following them. I often wonder why James Brown song "I'm Black and I'm Proud" and "Open up the Door". Most entertainers today, other than Kayne West, want open their mouths to such issues.

I'm not concerned about Ted Williams. But i'am concerned about Jackie Robertson's support for Richard Nixon and Robertson's denouncing of Canada Lee and Paul Roberson to GREAT PAN AFRICAN LEADERS. Do we Black's just want to be corrupt bad white people deep down inside?

How many African Americans are playing professional baseball today?

Hello Ikalean Wilkerson,

I know this is a very old post. An election is coming up and I think that I need to revive this post. We first "Should" come to the realization that "All" parties are adults and therefore we "All" have a right to an opinion.

"Criticism of the government and advocacy of unpopular ideas that people may find distasteful or against public policy, such as racism, sexism, and other hate speech are almost always permitted" under our Constitutional Rights (Wikipedia).

Dr, West and Mr. Smiley have criticised other presidents and their policies, so why should President Obama be exempt. Despite contrary beliefs, I don't think Mr. Smiley or Dr. West dislike President Obama. They have a right to voice theirl opinion, just like the same "Constitution" gave you your rights.

We must remember that President Barak Obama and the Democrats had ample time to pass almost any law before the Republicans took over, also let me say to you this is the way the "Big Boys" play their political games.

RULES OF THE GAME:

- One must enter into the political game with a thick skin or develop it rather quickly......lest you drown by sinking.

- Divert the negative away from you, so when you (Democrats and Republicans) fail at something, especially during an election year, almost always turn the tables around by making it seem as though your opponent was the reason it failed.

NOTE:

This game is not for the weak hearted. Don't be fooled by president Obama, you don't get to be one of the most powerful men in the world by only having a nice (kind-hearted) side.

I like President Obama, but he too is fair game.

M - E - S - S - A - G - E -  (BELOW)

I use to be hypocritical and judgemental when I see people with purple, blue, hot pink and red-white and blue hair. I use to say "why own God's green earth would someone do something that would take away from their  beauty."

It took an act from God to remind me that he does not judge, he (God) gave people a right to choose and a right to their opinion, you will reap what you sew and how dare I say to anyone that they are not beautiful when each of us came from God's creation.

I Learned: WHO AM I TO SIT IN JUDGEMENT OF ANOTHER.

Thanks,

Mischelle

Don't hate the players for the GAME? This what we have become. Little

With Al doing such a fine job, you would think that the other civil rights leaders would have died of. Instead, they are creating civil rights groups like churches. I have one thing Al and Jesse can’t claim, victories, success.  Help me out. Name one civil rights victory in the last 30 years. My friend Black folks have grown far to use to crumbs.

Black folks are far too easily mislead too. Consider this. Black people faced real obstacle, like death and Klansmen, to vote. Now imagine if all they had to do back then was get an ID card to vote. Black people will do anything to keep being victims of the White man. AIDS is worse among Black women than in some third world countries; the prisons are full of Black people; our children are about to wipe each other off the face of the earth and Al Jesse wants to lead marches to protest profiling.  Why don’t they just ask the President to cut off federal aid to police departments that profile? Al and the civil rights industry are not in the business of solving problems. If they were they would protest budget cuts and abuses at the EEOC.  We have all of these law makers and instead of making laws, we choose to march.

I don't agree with you on those assertions Jimmy. But as I said and I know you agree, that one wiki page list a whole lot of things people have been helped with. Jimmy lets admit it we need a 1000 Sharptons and Jimmy Pratts and others like yourself. Back in 2004 Sharpton came to St Louis and help lead a Interstate Highway shutdown. Due to the white contractors coming thru the 99% black areas and not hiring as they should. Out of the the community got a training center (Met Center), I was asked to do two bridges where the crews were at less 70% black males, and so on. Ironiclly it was the Black Clergy Colliation that tried to stop it (Rev. B.T Rice) at the request of Governor Carnahan. Another point your leaders and politicians "sell out" because someone else is paying for their services.

What's happening to US as Black people isn't a GAME. We are now happy that we are allowed to play in the corrupt GAME. So we must be as corrupt as the people who wouldn't let US play before. So we have our HNIC at the top of the corrupt GAME. Except the crumbs go out to the friends of the HNIC only. Power is corrupting and shows who the HNIC is really. If we are only bad examples of the other people then they were right about US all the time. Accountability and Accountability for all to include the president. I don't care who started the corruption I want it to stop and now. If anyone is found to be involved in the corruption the game is over. No positions based on friendship and/or political favors. Stand down of all government agencies. A commission to review government corruption.

Well if it comes good but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

First wiki is not a credible source. As a teen I would stand in line for hours to see James Brown. But James Brown was not a good role model. He robbed his band and all but beat Tammy Terrell to death.

We as a people need to know the difference between being had, being pimped and being helped. Federal law forbids discrimination in contract such as this. Black voter and taxpayers or Al should have forced the people you elected to do their jobs. This is why discrimination in the work place doesn’t stop. We never demand enforcement of the law. Furthermore, it has always been the practice and the law at one time, for big contract to build pools and so forth in depressed.

Since Al Sharpton can’t make or enforce any laws; he doesn’t own a giant corporation or a mega church and is not leading a movement. So where does he get all this power? The real power was in the 99% Black population who sat around and waited for someone to come save them.

Now why wouldn’t the president know to hire his most loyal constituent before being embarrassed into it?

The law was being following. The Federal Standards require 14.7% of any so called member of the minority group. The white contractors said they were meeting that and we said that was not acceptable. When Sharpton came the percentages went way up as I said to 70% in some cases. Elected officials can only go by the law as I said it was 14.7%.

Benazir Bhutto: Omar Sheikh Murdered Osama bin-Laden

http://littlecountrylost.blogspot.com/2008/01/benazir-bhutto-omar-s...

In a November 2, 2007 interview, less than two months before she would be assassinated, Benazir Bhutto was asked by reporter David Frost of Al-Jazeera English about a letter that she had sent to Pakistani dictator Pervez Musharraf. The letter outlined who she believed should be investigated in the event of her assassination. While giving her answer, she listed as one of the suspects a "key figure in security... a former military officer in Pakistan" who had dealings with, among others, "Omar Sheikh, the man who murdered Osama bin-Laden."
