Tavis, you don't like President Obama, you never have and you will find ANYTHING to bring him down.  Your mother is a preacher, I can only imagine she can see through your ruse to bring the President down.  You will find any thing to do just that.  You say it is because he is not doing anything for black people.  Well what about the Health Care program.  What about the tax incentive.  Now the Republicans want to repeal that.  Why don't you put your efforts into that.  Listen Tavis, you need to back off.  Take up your cause for Black people and DO something.  Your conventions aren't doing a darn thing but a lot of talking and NO action.  I have put more things into place in my community and I have a mentee who is still on the right path.  There are other young Black people who are accomplishing fantastic things.  STOP trying to get the President to do your job...YOU DO IT!  I am tired of your stuff.  LEAVE MY PRESIDENT ALONE!!!

Black Agenda Report has been a leading website for providing factual information to its readership throughout this crisis of sanity in Black America over the past 3.5 or so years. 

While I do not agree with every point they make, I always find their work to be well researched and well reasoned. All anyone has to do in determining the veracity of their work is pay attention to the subjects they report on. There are many other websites that are also informative that can be linked from their website.

Unfortunately, what prevents many people from paying attention is blind personality-cult worship. Given this, when asked to defend their opinion with facts, such individuals are unable to do so. So they respond with ad hominem, or they simply express the only things they have being paying attention to -- the great personal achievements of their alter -ego (the object of their cult-worship). Some are so sick (I hate to the use the word "sick," but it's true) that they even ad hominem the definition of ad hominem. How insane is that? Everyone who has read the recent comments on this topic has seen the evidence for his/her self. I could not have paid an actor to provide a better example. It is so sad.

Such individuals will search high and low, looking for a reason, however trivia, to attack the messenger rather than analyze the message. For example, they will point out typos as evidence that the messenger is a "swine" (not a term typically used by African Americans, interesting). But they can't respond to a simple question: "Why do you disagree with the article?" Hundreds of angry, hostile, fanatical words in response, but not a single sentence answering that simple question. Amazing!

I do not engage in prolonged discussions with hysterical (dissociated-type) folks like that.

The quack can keep opening and closing his mouth as he deems fit. He is covered by his First Amendment Rights to Free Speech (or Freedom of Speech). Why would anyone bother about a stark illiterate who has never heard the word 'swine' before and thinks it is alien to 'African-American English?' Laughable. 

Those who keep whining over the Destiny Child usually have no time to rewrite their own destinies for the better. President Obama has a long list of achievements that will see him trounce any opponent in the November elections. Ron Paul is the only Repo candidate who has the slimmest chance of threatening President Obama's re-election chances, but he has the wrong party for company. Repos do not know the worth of Dr. Ron Paul.

Now, assuming President Obama never wins another election, his worst detractors who are even a hundred times smarter, more intelligent and more politically savvy than James cannot match his records, even if they live another century. They can erase neither Obama's name nor his family's from the history books. So, keep doing what you do best; whining and ranting.

Ikalean - You sound like a very nice person and your true motives for deciding to share such personal specifics of your mentoring relationship on such a public forum are not for me nor anyone else to judge.  However, I did want to add to your initially stated list of two (2) accomplishments made by YOUR PRESIDENT for your further knowledge and consideration.  fyi this list is an excerpt from columnist Kris Kotarski of the Calgary Herald about what Obama’s administration has ACTUALLY DONE.  To be fair, I have omitted all of Obama’s repeated compromises since some can be construed as having the potential for bi-partisan benefit, i.e., Contraception flip flop, Power Pack campaign donations flip flop, etc (I WON’T EVEN MENTION HIS DOMESTIC AND GLOBAL DRONE STRIKE PROGRAMS THAT NOW INCLUDE TARGETING AMERICAN CITIZENS):

This is so fantastic sister Ikalean. I feel you to the core. I had to understand my homeboy Tavis's  perspective on the Presidents focus. I refuse to believe that Tavis or Dr. West is totally against the President. You have the right focus, seems. I admire your strength & dedication to your family. I believe Mr. Smiley is doing his job and using his platforms to raise issues that are important for all Americans. I think the problem with Tavis is he didn't get the memo that says you can hold a black president accountable. Just be happy with the black symbolism and forget about the substance.

 

Let's think about the scene from the movie "A Time to Kill" when Mathew McConaughey describes the brutal rape of the young black girl to a racist white jury and in the end ask the jury to image the girl was white. Now, let's do the same with this president. Imagine he is white. Would you be this supportive, differential, and passionate about his policies?

The price of moral courage among Black people. There are many of US Blacks who are as guilty as the whites who oppressed US. The truth let it be known to all that color discrimination among the different shades of Black skin is still a problem. The America that I fought for and defended for over twenty year in many foreign countries at risk of my life can accept all people as equals. Today we blame the Mexicans for our lack of Jobs and poor economy. I've heard many Black's talk about the Mexicans like the whites did US before the civil rights act of 1964. I will stand by the Mexicans because they are good hard working people who just want to feed the families and send money back to Mexico where it is needed the most. Many among US Blacks want to step on the necks of the Mexicans because they do day labor from the corners of this so called great country. My Mother came to this so called great country illegally to start a new life and family as the Mexicans did. My Mother's first language was Spanish also. My Mother and Father were born in Panama and my Great Parents born in Jamaica West Indies. My Great Grand Mother was a White Irish woman who had courage to married a Black Man as many White women did at the time. I have Syrians on my Fathers side of the family. On both sides of my family originally came from Black Africa the source of my families beginnings. I was born in Brooklyn NYC a Black Male and will remain that till the day I die. Many in my family use the status of Black Latinos to their benefit. I have never used same and never will. I could call myself a Black Latino because of my Mother and Father and my name (Ricardo Enrique Jones Sr.). I grew-up in the Hood's of NYC and SE/NE Washington DC and proud of that. Went to public schools in the aforementioned and Maryland (PG county). The phony president never had and/or learned any of what the Hood taught me about life. I'm a Proud Black Man from SE Washington DC and will remain same till the day I die. Im darker than a paper bag also. Truth to Word if you can take it.
