I am promoting: Use Technology to Help Children Succeed.

The Facebook route was a good choice to ensuring that. Word of mouth counts as well.

I have shared the information with many parents locally. Recently, I emailed the information to the Director of Elizabeth City Housing Authority to include in the monthly newsletter.  In addition, I have asked parents to spread the information. Frequently, I post the websites to my Facebook page.  Radio may be another avenue.  I realize I need the help of others to join me and circulate the information regarding the free resources. www.dictionary.com and www.vocabulary.com are two additional free resources. It is my goal to share this information to every state that studies show children who attend high-poverty schools are failing.

Suggestions and feedback welcomed. My email address is mfelton7@yahoo.com.

Great, Mary. By the way, sorry I am not familiar with EdS. What does that stand for?

The Education Specialist, also referred to as Educational Specialist, Specialist in Education, or Ed.S., is an advanced academic degree in the U.S. that is designed for individuals who wish to develop additional skills or increase their knowledge beyond the master's degree level, but may not wish to pursue a degree at the doctoral level.

Thanks Mary. Good to learn that there are bridge degrees between Master’s and Doctorate. There are many “doctors” in town who might have to step back and re-enroll in refresher programs a few years from now, going by the rate at which doctoral factories mushroom. Some ‘doctors’ may have to go as far back as AA and AS levels to get their bearings straight!

I like the coverage that University of Dayton gave the subject of EdS. Though neither Dayton’s nor Wiki’s is regarded as a peer-reviewed source, academics generally discountenance citations crediting Wiki and other such non-juried sources. Harvard Business Review is among the very few exceptions of non-juried sources with some measure of credibility with the academia.

Talking about credibility, if Gingrich’s speech writers attended Dayton (or better), they probably would have ended up being better informed. Among others, Dayton said “the department of educational leadership prepares scholar-practitioners dedicated to building learning communities (not dedicated to build learning communities …).”

i would like to support u in any way possible. i am presently pursuing my masters in education with a focus on educational technology and i would love to create my niche in the educational sector by graduation. so far i've learned that struggling students succeed in schools where administrators have identified technology as a viable medium of teaching and learning and are willing to support their staff in the professional development of technology integration in the classroom.
