From A Man Cain's playbook: Partisan political lessons

Everywhere you look, neophytes always have lessons to learn. It does not matter how high they fly like butterflies or sting like bees (trumping Ali who probably coined the saying and surely popularized it); how hard they hit like pugilist Sonny Liston or Smokin' Joe, if it is their first day at the pool, they are most likely swimming rookies! They must pay their dues first.

Doing a good job of selling pizza even for 99.9 years does not constitute sufficient safe harbor to print business cards for a White House run. More importantly, Cain and many of those who got swept off their feet by the nitrous-oxide euphoria surrounding his early stomping simply needed to do a better job of reading political signals. Forget the two-for-a-penny polls. From Day One, I said Cain was going nowhere. Maybe, you should begin to pay attention. Review these, among others:

- Initial assessment on Libya and Gaddafi's self-destructing gamble

- Unequivocal projection that Iran's Ahmadinejad was next on the card, Syria's Bashir Al Assad just a fly in an ointment along the way.

- The piece on Pakistani military as that country's de facto government, host to bin Laden, and collaborator with the Taliban and other renegades

and

- Maintaining that a military coup in Pakistan is a matter of time and Pakistani civilian leaders are playing a rookie game of riding the tiger

Everywhere, neophytes often aid history in repeating itself. A Man Cain was just another in a long line of neophytes learning the rope, albeit belatedly.

As with NRA settlements, some of these harassment accusations will soon migrate out-of-court. After some initial noise-making and muscle-flexing, money will change hands and life will return to normal or a semblance of one. End of story, until the next neophyte shows up. They always do. 

Serious parties may start effecting some in-house pre-screening of their presidential and gubernatorial wanna-bees. Recall that Arnold (no, not the Gubernator), the other Hollywood 'Arnold,'once applied to run for Cali governorship! Bless his heart; still love his days as the precocious 10-year old on Diff'rent Strokes. I felt pained watching his troubled adult years. 

Seems like Cain needed to have read up more intently on party politics (besides foreign policy side-notes).
