The longtime head of St. Sabina’s parish in Chicago was suspended by his boss, Cardinal George, for his comments on Smiley & West three weeks ago. Smiley: He is as authentic as they come. A truth-teller, committed to bearing witness. West: He's a white brother who loves Black people more than many Black people love themselves.

Father Pfleger said nothing of the kind and did not even hint at it, but it would take a very dark and negative spirit to hear such a thing in what was said. What was said was very uplifting and inspiring and dead on point.
There was nothing in it indicating that he thinks the Catholic church is "racist" or that he is the only good train smoking. There wasn't even so much as the hint of anything that could be considered racist. The closest that conversation gets to racism is the hosts saying that "he loves black folk more than they love themselves," and even that was the truth in spite of the way it was put.

I could see why Mr. Pfleger was suspended. In his interview he painted a poor picture of the Catholic Church. Listening to Mr. Pfleger you would think the Catholic Church was a racist, backwards institution that
lives above the law, which it may be but these are not the points of the Catholic Church that a "Father" should hi-light. Listening to that interview you would think Mr. Pfleger was the only good thing in the Catholic Church and the church itself was slanted against him. I think the Church was generous to give him a suspension and time to reconsider his error.

The Catholic Church is in the wrong for trying to stamp him down because he represents human rights for minorities.

Reneegede says, "... Catholic Church is in the wrong for trying to stamp him down because he represents human rights for minorities."
In some way, the Servant of God (SoG) Pfleger is cut from the same cloth as MLK Jr. Both have the entire humanity as their constituency and a passion for the downtrodden. Their ultimate goal was, and still is, truth and justice for ALL.
I have never felt totally at ease with the Catholic Church's preference for 'Father' with a capital 'F' when addressing its priests. I often wonder how the Church spells Father when addressing its Father in Heaven. Sorry if anyone was uncomfortable with the substitute title, Servant of God; I thought ordinary Mister might not cut it, either.

Permalink Reply by Fred Gabster on May 5, 2011 at 12:41am Neutralizing an American original like Father Pfleger lends credence to my contention that Catholicism is the most anachronistic religion on the planet and furthermore makes the Catholic church an unknowing catalyst of the growth of Bible teaching churches worldwide.
Amen, brothers?

The Catholic Church did at least ONE thing right, regardless of how long it took. The Church recanted and apologized post-humously to Galileo centuries after its inquisitorial trial and condemnation of Galileo. The Church eventually wised up to Galileo's heliocentric theory of the Earth revolving around the Sun rather than the reverse that the Catholic Church of Galileo's days held sacrosanct.
It remains to be seen what else the Catholic Church might recant in the next century. For now, the Church should be saluted for its courage and ecclessiastical fortitude to admit that it was wrong in the matter of Galileo's heliocentric explanation of an important galactic phenomenon with religious implications.

Good afternoon Mr.One Iam I must come to the defense of Father Pfleger and say that I or anyone as far as that matters can only paint a picture of what they See, Father Pfleger only spoke the truth that he has been looking at for over 30 years, I believe with all the God in me that it was the time and the season for this thing to be exposed (Ecclessiastes 3:7kjv) openly. Now dont get me wrong nobody's perfect but "God" but remember God uses whoever will yield themselves to be used and Father Pfleger became a yielded vessel for such a time as this, and know this man of God he's paying a price for it (truth 1 Peter 3:14jv), a price that the bible say's we would pay for righteousness sakes and remember everybody cant handle the TRUTH!.
PeaceIn,
Cerrita

Sister lets see if you can handle the truth? "God" is whatever you define him/her or it to be, that is, unless you allow the church(other men) to define "God" for you. Mr. Pfleger knows what time it is and supensions happen when you bite the hand that feeds you.
