Do You Feel President Obama Needs to take More Of A stand againist the Status Quo?

Even though many feel there are a group of people who would love to destroy this President. What troubles me is the President does not address the issues when it comes to what this group is trying to do. Its one thing to take the abuse and another thing to take a stand againist what they are trying to do. I just want President Obama for once to put those sleeping dogs in their place. Its as if he knows what they are trying to do but refuses to call these individuals on the carpet. I would love to hear from everyone. Am I the only one that is seeing this or does anyone else feel the pain. Thanks... See you in the discussion room.

Every citizen has a right to their opinion. good luck and may God continue to bless you.
Thank you Walter.. All this is pretty new to me.. But as you can see I'm learning quickly. (smile)
I am not sure that a person who rises to the position of POTUS can stand against the status quo. I get the impression that as 'candidates' they all have personal dreams of being transformative forces of good,
of going down in history as one of the greatest leaders of all time and all that stuff, but once engulfed in the power structure of the POTUS all bets are off and (not to sound crazy, but) they are sorta possessed by
America's agenda and they lose their sense of personal identity and just do stuff with great intentions but negative (too often brutally heinous) outcomes. Look at all the POTUS that personally dreamed, yearned desperately,
for the abolition of nuclear weapons yet couldn't advance that dream an inch. I don't blame Obama for where America is but he holds the responsibility for the calls he made himself, no matter how he (or we) justify them, such
expanding war, massacring civilians, and promoting nuclear energy. He if the first black POTUS but he is not th first human POTUS and ultimately he hasn't proven to be any different from either Bush, Reagan or Jefferson in my
opinion and like all the rest he is basically incapable of standing against the status quo. "Change doesn't come from Washington".
Tim You are right change does not come from Washington. It begins with us. If anything is going to happen to help the people we are going to have to make it happen. I must say maybe Malcom X was right in what he said. I guess it may come to by any means necessary. wow~

If change does not come Washington, then we should be concentrating our energies on those things that does generate change for the better rather than spending valuable time on something that we know from the beginning is fruitless. The president and congress role is not to tell the people what they want. The people must tell the elected officials what people want and demand.

The quote is from candidate  Obama on the campaign trail. Obama can not do any more than the political activity going on in Wisconsin. And even though they are a community of workers, students and supporters fighting against corrupt budget shuffles they have not be able recognize that weapons manufcturing and our wars (and wars in gerneral) have created our "standard of living" and unless they, or Obama, comes up with an alternative economic core then there will never be any real change in America, or the world for that matter. In their animalistic state of mind, finacial elite, instinctively respond to threats to their "standard of living" (that is not sustainable in any system that has any notion of humane motivations) and likewise the Amero/euro middleclass respond to their own threats. It just happens in America specifically that the primary threat to the middleclass (of all demographics) is any antiwar sentiment. So, while calling for a type of justice they percieve they reject what justice actually is and make our society to be an unjust peoples. And Obama, like all presidents, has risen to the top position of an unjust people..... birds of a feather. Like the comparrison Dr. King made in "A Time to Break the Silence", of the American people to the Nazis which isn't any difference at all when you strip away national identities.

Today is September 11th, the 28th anniversary of the American coup of Chile. An event that led to the horrific despair of millions of people including the burtal massacre of thousands merely for economic considerations. We (past, present and future) Americans defeated the fascist wave of death in Europe only to determine that such a system would be valuable to us against humans in South America.

Those determined to advance ideas, such as King's dream, have one great obstacle, the undefeated foe of peace, the American public (immigrants and all). But they (we) are as vicious as can be, so there is only one real response to be expected.... Anyone involved in a peace movement will know when they are affecting change just like their counterparts in other such campaigns in any other such war pro peoples, violence will manifest. Its sorta the rules to the game. Obama is willing to be POTUS, not to die for his fellow human beings, let alone life in general. And most of us are willing to be for peace and changes that in actuallity benefit our current way of living more than our fellow human beings, let alone life in general. If Americans ain't willing to become the equievillant of morden Africa then from my understanding of all great thinkers, that remains our destiny. I think this is the moral arch of the universe that bends towards justice. Then the role of peace makers will be to raise the peoples up to new heights at the same cost, against the same violence, aginst new Bushes and new Obamas, new Carters and new Jeffersons.

Walter I agree but sometimes I wonder who is really running this country. I get the feeling something is going on behind the scenes that we are not aware of... I still feel this election needs to bring us together as a people. We must have unity or we will never excel where we need to be.

....a major part of which is the mutha fuc_ka's "drones over Mexico" policy.  Hmmm... he must be planning to exterminate all of the Black Mexicans, too.

barrage insane obomber is a baby-killing, lying, thieving, war mongering, mass murdering, African-hating, torturer, and jig dancing bug-a-boo! The fact that the obomberbots continue to support this barely human piece of s*** when they readily admit that he ain't done nothing right and if reelected, still won't be able to do a damn thing other than his master's will is a testament to the fact that a good portion of the 'merican population ought to be the subjects of a book called "Why Johnny Can't Read or Think!"

I doubt that participating in the presidential election will result in any different result than it has always produced: betraylal. The candidates that rise up don't have the character to carry their campaign 'promises' into the position of actual leadership, POTUS. One can debate if the statements made by candidates are even 'promises' or out right lies. White, black, male, female, atheist, theist, domestically or foreignly born, whatever- the very language candidates use to get elected and the public responds to is deception. That's why I think King's model is more important than deciding who to vote for, and who to support once elected. "Merely to set the record straight, may I state that repeatedly, in public addresses & in my writings, I have unequivocally declared my hatred for this most colossal of all evils [nuclear weapons] & I have condemned any organizer of war, regardless of his rank or nationality." Martin Luther King, Jr.- A Testament of Hope, p.34
From my reading of this I am presented a choice to follow Obama or King. Maybe someone else doesn't see the difference but then I would say that that is because  they already made their choice.
Thank You..
