It took a few months, but the Congressional Black Caucus finally had its jobs meeting at the White House.

Smiley: The turnout in Black America will go down because you can’t play the history card again.

West: This had everything to do with politics. He wants to consolidate the Black base.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Pub.L. 88-352, 78 Stat. 241, enacted July 2, 1964) was a landmark piece of legislation in the United States that outlawed major forms of discrimination against blacks and women, including racial segregation. It ended unequal application of voter registration requirements and racial segregation in schools, at the workplace and by facilities that served the general public ("public accommodations"). Powers given to enforce the act were initially weak, but were supplemented during later years. Congress asserted its authority to legislate under several different parts of the United States Constitution, principally its power to regulate interstate commerce under Article One (section 8), its duty to guarantee all citizens equal protection of the laws under the Fourteenth Amendment and its duty to protect voting rights under the Fifteenth Amendment.Civil Rights Act of 1964

Paul wrote of his opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1964:

It "not only violated the Constitution and reduced individual liberty; it also failed to achieve its stated goals of promoting racial harmony and a color-blind society. Federal bureaucrats and judges cannot read minds to see if actions are motivated by racism. Therefore, the only way the federal government could ensure an employer was not violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was to ensure that the racial composition of a business's workforce matched the racial composition of a bureaucrat or judge's defined body of potential employees. Thus, bureaucrats began forcing employers to hire by racial quota. Racial quotas have not contributed to racial harmony or advanced the goal of a color-blind society. Instead, these quotas encouraged racial balkanization, and fostered racial strife."[257]

Advocacy for Ron Paul is mis-guided (IMHO), conservative libertarian politics are not in the interest of marginalized people.  The demise of the democratic process in this country makes that marginalization a concern for us all....

This President during the 2008 campaign failed to offer crumbs for Blacks (jobs) which was the issue then but now it is prisons and he wants consolidation on the Black vote.  "He wants" the King wants; he

will not get my support in this campaign, he had it when he ran on "Change" which when you think about it meant what (?) a return to being a "Serf", slave to a plutocracy, fascist regime of "Globalist" - "one world bank, one world judiciary - one world supremacy in the hands of Zionists former Nazi's!  I don't think so. He apparently enjoys licking the boots to these characters, bowing to Queens, monarchs and celebrating their excesses but I am not as stupid as he thinks "Blacks" are. and the American Public is not as stupid as he thinks they are. We get it too! Ron Paul who offers a Republic vs. 100 years of war and continuous Empire building will get my vote.  Good luck "smart alec".

Personally, I WILL be looking at Obama's record at election time.  More than likely, I will vote for him again, not just because he's Black, but "better to deal with the Devil you know than the Devil you don't know."  It has been apparent from the begining of his administration that Obama was going to follow the globalists agenda (consider his advisors and cabinet members).  Knowing that, his policies have been no surprise to me.  I do feel, however, that the jobs issue is one that could bring him down.  Americans of all kinds want to go back to work.  The unemployment figures in the Black community do not, by any means, present the reality of the situation.  Many of us have just given up on being employed, and those numbers are not reflected in the stats.  The CBC has been no great  help in this matter.  They do not need Obama to submit legislation that will provide jobs.  Where is it???

I am glad that they (Obama and the CBC) did, finally get together, but I question whether it will make a substantive difference in our plight as Africans-Americans.

What you black people need is a 3 month dose of Richard Nixon. This president is working for you.

What he should do, is  forget about re-election, stroll the beautiful black sandy beaches of Hawaii with his family and  let you winers fend for youirself.

YOU DON'T DESERVE THE BLESSING!!!!!

I agree!

IT'S TIME TO MAKE TYING THE RICH TAX RATES TO THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE TO GIVE US FULL EMPLOYMENT WITH A LIVING WAGE AT A MINIMUM, AN EVERLASTING CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT! THIS WILL GREATLY HELP TO ENSURE WE PROVIDE FOR THE GENERAL WELFARE! IT'S THE ONLY WISE SOLUTION TO TECHNOLOGY, CORPORATIONS, AND WALL STREET CAUSING INSTABILITY IN AMERICAN JOBS FOR BIGGER PROFITS! SINCE IT WON'T STOP AMERICA FROM BEING JUST AS PROSPEROUS, IT'S TIME FOR REAL CHANGE!

Tell yo ma, pa, sis, bro, and friends to put this wisdom in their blog and send it to your congressmen and blogs! Push for real change, NOW!

In the day that the unemployed and poor blacks go to the fields to pick food as our ancestors, is also the day that the educated blacks become house niggers. The house niggers will be doing their cooking and serving their the tea party members, yes, serving them tea and coffee.  They are dividing not the poor blacks, the are dividing the educated blacks.  DIVIDE AND CONQUER  THE BLACK EDUCATED FOOLS

AND MAKE SURE ALL THE OTHER WOULD BE FREEDOM FIGHERS (OUR BROTHERS WHO ARE NOT AFRAID TO DIE)LOCK THEM UP IN JAIL.  THAT WAY WHEN THE REVOLUTIONARY HORN SOUNDS, THEIR STRONG MEN WILL NOT BE THERE FOR THEM.  ONLY THE UNCLETOMS.

You present a very transparent picture of the black predicament. Many of our educated are brainwashed and assimilated! Civil Rights leaders that originated with Dr. Martin Luther King and the Freedom Fighter have been assimilated and used as tools to spread false hope in a false democracy that interprets the US Constitution falsely!

It's just a huge ball of pretense and fallacy anymore, in America! Our politicians are little more than salesmen of dreams they never intend to fulfill! They promote education without setting the foundation that obligates job creation and fair pay for all citizens!

They are running a corrupt and unjust capitalism! It is a tool to genocide the black man! First they imprison him or slave him until he breaks down and die or takes to killing his brother! Constrained in poverty, pitted one against another brother for survival, cannibalizing! Engineers of this capitalism make a mockery of Martin's Dream which many had before Martin described it. That's why it was so powerful! It illuminated the hope that was in our own hearts! A candle in a dark world!

It is true that if we push for rights that are ours in this pretentious democracy, we will be snatched up and beaten down by our own brothers and sisters in the armed forces and police departments. It's an awesome prospect to even consider a fight for freedom. It has the promise of failure more than success amidst present circumstances. Yet, only the brave move to combat the evil that has wrecked their lives and threaten to eliminate their offspring. Surely we see the train of black genocide in America has sped up!

Bad men flourish when Good men do nothing!

IT'S TIME TO MAKE TYING THE RICH TAX RATES TO THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE TO GIVE US FULL EMPLOYMENT WITH A LIVING WAGE AT A MINIMUM, AN EVERLASTING CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT! MAKE THE RICH EARN LOWER TAXES INSTEAD OF GIVING THEM TO THEM IN BLIND HOPE THAT THEY WILL PROVIDE ENOUGH JOBS! THIS WILL GREATLY HELP TO ENSURE WE PROVIDE FOR THE GENERAL WELFARE! IT'S THE ONLY WISE SOLUTION TO TECHNOLOGY, CORPORATIONS, AND WALL STREET CAUSING INSTABILITY IN AMERICAN JOBS FOR BIGGER PROFITS! SINCE IT WON'T STOP AMERICA FROM BEING JUST AS PROSPEROUS! ENOUGH WITH THE ENDLESS STUPIDITY OF WHAT TO CUT AND HOW MUCH! IF YOU RUN FREE MARKET ECONOMICS ON EVERYTHING, IT WILL ENSLAVE MANY! THE RIGHT COURSE IS TO ENSLAVE NONE WHILE PROVIDING PLENTY FOR HARD WORKERS AND CREATERS OF OUR FUTURE! CAPITALISM SHOULD BE RUN TO MAKE NONE NEEDY AND YET ALLOW FOR THE GREEDY! TAX RATES ARE PRESENTLY SET TO ENSLAVE AND SACRIFICE THE MANY TO DESTITUTION, THAT THE FEW LIVE FREE! IT'S IMMORAL TO THE POINT OF DEMONIC! SACRILEGE! IT'S TIME FOR REAL CHANGE!

The Civil Rights movement had success because they didn't let others who had lost their own sense of hopes persuade them that their hopes and dreams were based on false hopes.

It's O.K. I have enough faith and hope for us both. So, I ain't mad at you.  We all get tired and upset with humanity.

That's just the way life is...

Christine... Ms. Rickett...You make a point....I hear ya!  There are individuals who personify your characterizations...There are also Black (African-American) Conservatives (2% voted for GW Bush). They are wholly different and "kinda' sad individuals.  Education in this instance is more akin to "miseducation".  Pres. Obama postponed meeting the Caucus, he has nothing good to relay to them. Wars, economic crisis, Foreign & Domestic Policy all pressing.  Universal Healthcare, closing Guantanamo, and ending "Don't  Ask Don't Tell" leave little time for the needed intervention on issues of employment and education... high priorities of Black (African) Americans.  The racist zeal with which the Republican Party has comported itself is shameful coupled with the complicity of the Democratic Party and that the Obama Adm. accomplishes anything confounds the mind.

The appeal of the President and the vision he shared encompassed all Americans.  I would wish for exclusive attention (;-0) but it will not be forthcoming. I refuse to view Pres. Obama's attempts at inclusion as deal breaking (detrimental) for I am sure inclusion is the only way forward.

An individual is entitled to exercise their vote in the way they wish. I have seen advocacy for among others Huckabee-Kucinich-& Paul.

The President needs the unified vote of the disenfranchised of all colors, ages, and genders.  There is power in that number!

I ain't mad at ya. I simply can't understand why any black person is making excuses for Obama. I hope he gets his head on straight and gets a significant increase in black jobs! We know 16-30% real unemployment is too high for black men! That's called genocide! Why would anyone make excuses for someone that aids and abets it like Obama is doing! He has no excuse for allowing it! Ending Bush Tax Cuts is central to stoping it, plus stop spending cuts that are counter productive and costing blacks more jobs! That's not a President! That's an AZZ!

I ain't mad at ya. Obama chose the priority according to what benefits Obama, not black America or America at large. He had his chance to prove he was for all America when he first entered office and 12/2010! Ending Bush Tax Cuts was his opportunity to comprehensively benefit all Americans and the world by stimulating the American economy on a continuous basis which would have carried over to the world economy! I simply can't understand why any black person is making excuses for Obama. I hope he gets his head on straight and gets a significant increase in black jobs! Otherwise, I can't vote for him. THAT'S PURE FANTASY!

Republicans act in the interest of the rich alone! The Democrats are suppose to be acting in the interest of all. Democrats and Republicans are ruled by campaign dollars and job offers by the rich after office. Democrats are reduced to little more than lip service for the less fortunate because of the influences of the rich dollars on them! They are all a bunch of bought men and women! Some less or more than others. There is nothing else to explain this calamity!

However, they both have an electorate to please. That's why the twain shall never meet. The interest of the rich are not the interest of the poor! The rich will forever look for ways to screw the poor. Democrats are letting them do it more, and more! It's about bogus promises, intents, and bought men! Even Obama has a price and sold to the highest bidder! That's why he's giving it all away to the Republicans!
