Smiley: These companies are making their way into Egypt faster than Hannibal crossed the Alps. I’m not sure this is what the people were fighting for. West: I did not see any signs that said, ‘We want U.S. oligarchs.’ Sounds like China 15 years ago.

Seen it before...1948 Palestine...the population of a whole country was removed and the land was given over the europeans jews. Palestinians who fled were not allowed to return to their home.

Expect to see the same in oil-rich Libya. Those who fled from Benghazi will not be allowed to return under the theory that they are "Pro-Gadhafi".  Libya is slated for ethnic-cleansing. It's 4 million people are on tap to be run out and their oil-rich country handed over to its new european owners.

In the 1948 war, the zionist took over Palestine but why is it never mentioned that it was the uk and france that fought with (FOR) the zionist in that war to ethnically-cleanse Palestine for its new european occupants.

Their plans for Colonel Gadhafi, we've also seen before. Remember that the u.s. kidnapped Manuel Noreiga from Panama and likewise J.B. Aristide, from Haiti. Noreiga was sent to languish in a dungeon in france after completing his prison term in the u.s.  Aristide was dumped in the Central African Republic, eventually being exile to South Africa.  o'bomber put pressure on South Africa to prevent Aristide from returning to Haiti. However, zuma let him go. Haiti is currently under the thumb of its new emperor, bill clinton.

All small countries had better get nuclear weapons. The world will never be safe from the europeans and the americans.

Colonization of the 21st Century: any talk of it is weeded out from the public domain because we're exercising our American "obligations" to spreading "democracy". What happened to supporting Gaddafi? Mubarak? Saddam?

The U.S./ European endgame in Libya might look more like the establishment of Kuwait.  Britain carved out a new "nation" from its Iraqi colony ("granted independence" in 1963) that was sitting on Iraqi oil fields and beholding to Britain.  Then Britain in 1963 and U.S. in 1990 came to the "defense" of this "nation" against Iraqi intentions to repatriate the land and oil.  Eastern Libya sitting on the major oil fields, may become the new protected "nation" that is accomodating to Western oil interests, and protected by the EU and US.

I am glad to hear that you are not surprised ast this development.  These people do not want more of the same; i.e.,the rich living off the poor.  That is what these companies are bringing.

Perhaps the high unemployment rate in addition to idealistic dreams of freedom from oppression contributed to these recent events? Whom will provide those needed jobs?  Speaking of China, their foreign policy is impressive.  Compared to USA foreign policy, I am reminded of the "honey and vinegar" saying.
