As to the remarks about our large prison population, a possible reason is the American way of criminalizing activity under practically every legislated statute which results in a plethora of potential criminal charges and potentially increases the chance for conviction and incarceration.

The state failed to prove their case as reflected in a unanimous verdict of not guilty. Not even a hung jury--a divided vote and inability to convince others one way or another--resulting in a re-trial! Like OJ Simpson's case, the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.  Why cannot people respect this and defer to the 12 people who heard the evidence? Now, if they had decided to not prosecute her, your argument would definitely gain strength.

We all know that our people are incarcerated unjustly, but having said that, I think any anger directed at her is misdirected. I don't hear any anger at the prosecuton for doing such a lousy job of proving their case. I feel the same way I did after the OJ verdict, when all those white folks were acting as if they saw OJ do it. I didn't see Casey Anthony commit this crime, the fact that she was tried and found not guilty settles it for me. It settled the matter for me in the OJ case, there was no anger directed at Gil Garcetti's office for rushing to trial before he had built a solid case and I felt then the people's anger was misdirected.
