Smiley: "When the David & Goliath story comes to mind, one doesn't think of love, one thinks of slaying someone."

We know in our gut, in our heart what the truth is , most are just afraid to admit it. Eddie Long did these things. I am so tired of hearing people say, we can't judge. We judge everyday, but When it comes to a so-called man of God we don't want to say. Eddie long is a man of God alright, but his God is not the God I serve. Jesus told us we would be able to tell, by the fruits. JUST LOOK@ THE FRUITS.
When someone speaks so passionately against something it could be that they either have hate in their heart or are challenged with the same issue!
Upon seeing him give his speech/narrative with his shiny new wig and IPAD in hand, it lead me to think about him: Look ya'll I can have anything I want! Despite what he says! Poor devil!

He'll be watch forever.
We want the truth, but will it come out? His image is damaged in the publics eye and his leadership will be questioned. People dont like to admit they judge, but they do everyday. Scripture tells us to use discernment and to test the spirit, but nobody seems to want to use disernment. Righteous judgement is fine, because it is followed by uplifting a person after they have been corrected. The problem is that we tend to judge a person and kick while they are down.
What is done in the dark will always come out in the light. Eddie Long needs to humble himself or face humilation which he is tasting now. Right is right and wrong is wrong but one thing I know for sure is my GOD will have the final say despite Eddie Long admitting the truth or not.

A sad state of affairs. (No pun intended) It is my opinion that Bishop Long should take leave until the alligations are proven or disproven. His church does provides much needed social services for the local Atlanta community and disenfranchised African populations. His presence takes away from the WORK and puts the focus on HIM. After reviewing pictures he sent to the alleged victims coupled with their their television interviews, I am inclined to believe there is some truth in the alligations. Forgiveness is paramount but does not exclude consequenses fo his actions.

Bishop Long's actions are simply an abuse of power...these young followers seeking the word of God may have been caught in the web of one Man's selfish pleasure...it is not for us to judge or condemn because God and Bishop Long know what the truth is...and these young men know also. Now that they are in the Court of Public Opinon the truth will somehow prevail.Any abuse of power will not be tolerated by the masses! Sadly ABUSE in any form destroys lives...what is the reparation for a life destroyed? Monetary...I think not.
After watching the news footage of the young men who brought the charges, it is going to be very difficult for me to believe there is a possibility that Bishop Long is innocent. Having said that, I feel this is a huge wake-up call for the church as a whole. We have a lot of issues in the church with power, manipulation and control. We put, perhaps, a little too much trust in the men that we allow to lead us. We tend to put them on pedestals. The body of Christ as a whole would benefit in finding the balance/difference between honoring our leaders and holding them accountable.
Truth is sometimes found in a dark and cold place the word says Jeremiah.17:9 -The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it? The Lord search the hearts of men.
First off, lets hope the whole truth comes out about this. If these allegations are true however, the biggest issue to me (to go along with Bishop Long violating the rights of young men) would be the issue of hypocrisy that would be clearly evident, something that Leisa Monique was speaking upon. Let's face it, the ugly side of the Black Church is the issue of homophobia (along with patriarchy) in the church, particularly homophobia in regards to black churches led by black men. Bishop Eddie Long has been rampant homophobe to the point where Julian Bond of the NAACP didn't attend to Coretta Scott King's funeral because of the homophobia exhibited by Bishop Long. For these allegations to come out now to Bishop Long now is the height of irony.

Let's hope that a result of this, whether it's true or untrue, is that the black church, for which I'm a proud member of one, can deal with their own issues of homophobia and we as black people in general, can get over our issues with homophobia. As black folk, we wouldn't have the freedoms we have, without gays and lesbians in our community who fought for us. Imagine us without the contributions of gay brothers and lesbian sisters such as Langston Hughes, Audrey Lorde, James Baldwin, Angela Davis, Bayard Rustin, and Barbara Jordan. If anything comes out of this drama, it should be the elimination of homophobia in the our black churches and in our community.
