Latinos, Egyptians, Tunisians, Chinese, Whites, Africans, Gays and a wealth of minority races around the U.S. and the world are looking out for their own in politics and socioeconomics.  It’s way past time black people as a whole got out and speak with our U.S. President; protest and/or march for our unmet highly disproportioned disenfranchised needs.  Our silence is a killer of our race. People are studying our civil right marches left and on the right; singing our song "We Shall Overcome" at their marches. Probably wondering why we ain't doing nothing and that that is too bad.

All of these BLACK RICH AND WEALTHY FOLKS CAN'T GO AND STUDY  BLACK WALL STREET of TULSA, OKLAHOMA, THEY ARE A DISGRACE. I HAVE TO ADMIT DR. WEST, SHE IS RIGHT. BLACK WALL STREET IS THE ANSWER, OTHERWISE, WE ARE STUCK IN THIS WILLIE LYNCH MIND CONTROL. I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WAKE UP BECAUSE YAHWEH IS WAKING UP EVERYONE. OH, AND STOP WAITING FOR BARACK OBAMA TO DO SOMETHING, BECAUSE HE'S NOT (IT'S BEEN TWO YEARS AND HOMELESS BABIES ARE STARVING AND FREEZING TO DEATH)

TAVIS AND DR. WEST SPEAK MORE ABOUT BLACK WALL STREET FOR ALL PEOPLE IN PRISONS AND IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS, PLEASE. I'M TIRED OF SEEING MY BEST FRIENDS BEING KILLED BY BLACK PEOPLE.

(BLACK WALLSTREET, BLACK WALLSTREET, BLACK WALLSTREET, BLACK WALLSTREET)

THE OTHER NIGHT A BOY, WHO I KNEW, WAS KILLED AFTER COMING BACK HOME AFTER SERVING IN IRAQ AND GOING TO COLLEGE IN NEW ORLEANS. IF WE RISE LIKE EGYPT, I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE WE WOULD HAVE, NOT TOO MANY.......BLACK WALL STREET WILL LIVE AGAIN BECAUSE I AM BLACK WALL STREET.

BLACK WALL STREET FOR ALL. TULSA, OKLAHOMA WILL BE BORN IN EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD, ESPECIALLY ON A STREET CALLED MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD.

But what I am afraid of is the divide and conquer method. if we are divided as a people then we will lose war against all governments including ours. We are all God's People. I love everyone, but we better get out of that 'my race is better or my race is not doing anything because of another race' mindset. BLAME ALL THE BLACK MILLIONAIRES AND BILLIONAIRES (OPRAH "People(ghettos in America) ask for too many things."

It might just be my personal experience, but you can hardly get a myriad of blacks together. It's usually ruined by egoistic and insatiable flaring.
The focus strays away from the issues that concern the commonwealth, and turns into an inane gossip-fest. It's all about judging and dissecting the next person's character with surgical precision.

The fact we're all human; ought to take precedence. My ethnicity, nationality, social class, sexual orientation, physical characteristics, and et cetera ARE NOT MY DEFINING FACTOR!

I'm not these labels assigned to me. I'm starting to realize that's our problem: language and its intent.

One of the daily realities facing people all around the world now is the advocacy and systemic state of cultural, ethnic, tribal, religious, racial, governmental or gender SEPARATION from the larger group.  DIVISION that you must remain silent or be a part of a group to be heard thus CONQUERING dissent levels at the greed involved in the financial and economic crisis.  Naturally, this angers people including myself, especially when I heard the listener taking Smiley & West to task for praising Latinos.  The heavy volume of global anger that has spilled over is unprecedented in nature and history because it affects all humankind really.  Those in power who respond in kind with separatism only add fuel to the fire.  In my base opinion, the world must unite against these global elites as one but first must deal with the separatism hand given to them because results show separate groups are winning.  As a native african american woman, I appreciate our long standing black leaders Tavis Smiley, Dr. Cornelius West, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Minister Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Al Sharpton and others who keep Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s, legacy of a leader alive. Where we might be without them all leaves much more to be desired.  Blame doesn't solve anything--it separates and divides. When I marched in cold weather many times with Dr. King, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Dr. Ralph Abernathy & other civil rights leaders in Washington, D.C., as a young girl in the '60s with my family, more black people then as is now decided not to and did not participate in a civil rights movement with us and argued over how it should be done.  Up sprung separate black groups of people such as the Black Panther & Malcolm X.  The advancement of colored peoples will not be stagnated by separatism of any kind but inclusion.  Those that participate who see & create a better world we have them to thank not blame.  I don't know everything but experience teaches me that blacks alone must reunite again.  It works if you work it.  The spirit of prosperous african american entrepreneurs of Black Wall Street in the '20s live on today as a "Magic Johnson" and they are spread out across the world? Yes? Talking about it and anger spurs inspiration to get up and do something about it.

I like the last caller's point very much. When words are so powerful, but action much more so, the watering down point makes a lot of sense. Between Tavis and Dr.Cornell there is a lot more that can be done. For example: Town hall meetings for the Black youth and adults would be great! You two travel all over, why not stop for a short time and speak with your people? Grass roots movement' Imagine, 100 Black men and 100 Black women of influence with a oneness of heart geared to make a real difference? I think we should start building things that will move us forward. Find out where your Tradesmen are in each city, or from one city and start building things that are investments in more ways than one. After a while, talk is cheap! And last but not least, I have love for you Brotha's.

Dear Dr. West & Tavis,

Recently I've notice a negative attitude creeping into my character about Hispanic people. First I  prayed because I thought I was becoming set in my ways, not wanting to adapt to learning a new culture which can lead to racist beliefs. As I examined my recent interactions with Latino residents I saw a pattern of disrespect and poor treatment. Here are few examples: SEVERAL times while I was walking my dog at the park I encountered a group or two or more Latino's approaching on the  side walk, I would walk to the edge of the sidewalk to make room for the group but they would not yield my side of the side walk and bumped in to me, when I applied for a federal program I was treated in a condescending manner by the  Hispanic worker so I went to her supervisor who happened to be Hispanic and she did nothing so I went two levels over both their heads to get the action that I had a right to get and the final example, my dog and I suffered a dog attack and I called animal control, the owner of the dog appeared to be of Hispanic origin, when the animal control officer arrived he had had Hispanic features and a last name that was of spanish origin, although the officer found out the dogs license was expired he did NOT site the man nor take a report at my request. Could it be coincidental, possible, but I don't think so. Jealousy and racism are destructive but I realize this is not the source of my growing anger, it's righteous indignation.

I agree Hispanic people have made commendable social and political advances but it's nothing for African-Americans to celebrate. It appears African-Americans are contending with new oppressors, every time there is a changing of the guard our progress regresses. I strongly support most of Dr. Diana Beard-West's statements.

Watch the movie "Blood In Blood Out," and see what power we would have if black and brown stop being jealous of one another. Stop getting mad at them, when you should be talking to your black brothers who you are afraid of about Black Wallstreet 1921. Your comment is something Hitler would say against the Jews " They run the world, so let's destroy them." Nonsense. Your comment in simple terms " I'm sick of these hispanics moving in." Please, stop the HATE and LOVE everyone, same goes for Hispanics.

Please read the comments and make sure you understand whats being said before you reply so you will sound intelligent enough to be taken seriously.  I don't need to talk to my black brothers because I have a black sister who lives in Tulsa less than 10 minutes away from the original site

(Greenwood, Archer,Pine) not to mention I've met a survivor and eyewitness of the whole incident. Your reply about the Black Wall street is getting stale, you're starting to sound like a broken record. Wait I get it- you have a mental disorder, ignore my comments but next time take your medication before getting on-line.

as a spanish major, i can't help but admire the mobility and unity of latinos that i studied. i also studied that the southern region of the US really belongs to Mexico which might explain more of that "entitlement" feeling that latinos have to America. i also studied how the spaniards colonized the indians and the ancestors of latinos were not subjected to as much divisive mental abuse as that of the ancestors of african americans. lastly, when i taught, i observed that GENERALLY my latino students saw their education as "a way out" more than my black students. i hate to GENERALIZE but i just deduced that my former students of immigrants were encouraged by their parents to take advantage of the American oppurtunities that are not available in their native countries while my "at risk" black students observed how their parents/guardians got by without formal education so the inspiration "to make something of themselves" is not really there. just my GENERAL thoughts (and i am very aware of the black valedictorians and idle latino gang members).
