THE civil rights out look on the immigration law in Arizona represent millions of views on both sides of the political fence. THE audience will be significant on both fronts.The right to live in the U.S. with through proper papers should be the slam dunk of this major issue.BUT it is not.
Black and white mass media radar of concern over this matter is deeply rooted in numbers.
With tens of millions of people focusing on this situation ,producers,advertisers and money keep
in the front line.While other topics that warrant discussion get kept off the radar of thought.
The immigration talk will fade over night in the media once millions of people drop it as an issue.

The book "Presumed Alliance" is relevant to this I think. The Arizona laws are so scary. Much of the population does not even recognize the edicts as racist, and they most definitely are. Why is it that the disconnect can even exist? A (large) common foe....
We are both Black and Brown alike better served when we act in solidarity,yet we seem to fall prey to the divide and conquer strategy that works so well.
I agree with Smiley and West. Black/African-Americans, the vanguard of the struggle for inclusion in this country, must be willing to recognize the struggle of others. We can not afford to exclude. We should not wish to be part of the exclusionary practices we know to be profoundly harmful & hurtful....

Hello Dr. Cornel West and Tavis Smiley:

I was inspired to share my story after listening to: "Takes Smiley and West to task". My family history: I was born in Arizona, my family Immigrated to America in 1875-Colorado. My family also settled in New Mexico and a County was named after my family: Otero County. Some of my Otero family also went to: Arizona, California, Nevada.

In Arizona the "Civil Rights Movement has really grown because of a Law that went into effect called-SB-1070;this law has caused increased "Racial Profiling" and massive "Civil Rights Violations" Reverend Al Sharpton and many other Civil Rights Leaders have helped the "Latino Community" enormously. Latinos recognize that the: African Americans (Blacks) started the "Civil Rights" Movement and are greatful for all African American's (Blacks) work and contributions for "Civil Rights". In the 1970's-my Father and his Union-Local 383- were directly involved with Cesar Chavez whom fought for the rights of workers in America.

Rev. Al Sharpton has said "those that discriminate against Blacks will discriminate against Latinos, those that discriminate against Latinos will discriminate against Blacks; That is very true and we need to unite together for the struggle! Blacks and Latinos also have the highest unemployment rate and are imprisoned at a very high rate because of the oppression and racism that is still very prevalent in our society.

Mis-education, ethnic study bans-of a certain race is done delibertly by "White Supremacists-Politicians" and is a dirty method used to oppress people-socially, economically. Theologians have made specific quotations from the holly book, which referred to the "Indigenous" as the "Sleeping People" and or the "Dead People" the point here is we need to wake up and fight! or continue to be the oppressed victim!

Thank you brothers for this topic, I would start off this comment with the word chaos. Is it not enough that we have had to fight for the many rights that our fathers and mothers have died for in order for us to see this day. Just because some of them traded the white hooded sheets for authority uniforms and high office positions; Just because some don't call you every nigger in the book and torch your body;they don't have too because they do it so well, America is a master of the MASTERS who want slaves.
They care nothing about the natives of this earth, they arn't a native of no part of this land and in each land that they have been in they have been rejected because of the hell that they have and still cause today in these signs of ending times.
We are only useful to them under their rule and if we go along and get along with the masters new plantation laws.
They take heavenly prizes off the back of dark slaves to build this damn hell and then tell you to go back to where you come from but refuse to pay for the ticket so that we can seperate from her and now in this day she would say to a natural native from Arizona, Are you here illegally?
She has no right! When she stands in dirty hands of stollen property!
We are God's property, and America would do well to leave us alone because she knows neither the hour or day when she will no longer be able to hide. Because the one that is comming aint comming for a seat in the white house, He's comming to judge and set up HIS kingdom that will never be brought to ruin!

It's time that the family rise up and stand against evil injustice that continues to beat down on Gods people and then turn back to you and to pretend that they are you damn friend! This is real; "YOU ARE NOT NOW NOR HAVE YOU EVER BEEN A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!! They want slaves and they will continue to blind and corrupt the whole world in a hell of a way to get it even if it means that they will die.

I saw a funny scene today in a movie with Robin Williams...the title escapes me at the moment, but Robin was a time traveler who came upon some ancient Africans. The Africans asked Robin and his crew to show their navals and to breath to prove they were human. I thought that was funny.

But to the caller, I agree with you totally, the Black Agenda needs to be the focus of the hour. I also agree with Dr. West that reaching out to our Latino brothers and sisters is desirable, But you can't have your cake and eat it too as the old folks (older than me) :D would say. I believe in taking care of home first before you venture out to help your neighbor and his home. Cut your own lawn before you cut your neighbors. Feed our own children before you feed your neighbor's. When you are on an airplane the flight attendants instruct you to first put on your own oxygen mask then help your child, for the simple fact if you incapacitated, how are you going to help the child with his mask? So I'm going to have to go with the caller on this one.

The issue in Arizona is a about "Racial Profiling" if the subject of Immigration gets dropped then the people that made these Hate Laws will also target you like Rev. Al Sharpton said. Those that discriminate against African Americans-Blacks- will discriminate against Latinos-Browns, those that discriminate against Latinos-Browns- will discriminate against African Americans-Blacks. Greedy Americans allowed Latinos to work in America for slave wages, then they decided to throw them out after they were here for 10 years. The Repubilcans say they might allow them a "Work Visa" only because the Republicans want to deny Citizenship because they don't want the Immigrant-Latinos to vote for the Democrats!, the same concept when Blacks were denied the right to vote, then after the "Civil War" the 14th Amendment was written. Arizona Laws will spread to other States!, people won't give up, just like the people that were slaves didn't give up when they were mistreated by their "Slave Masters" sometimes people would rather be quiet and not upset the Staus Quo-White People/ Slave Master-White Supremacists-The same White People that has been in control of America. Give up on "Civil Rights" let them divide the Indigenous People and modern day slavery and oppression will continue because people are too damm weak to fight their open enemy! What kind of future will America be for our Children? I'm willing to go to war with the enemy are you?
